Behold the coming of the cyber-baby!

At first, it was cute. Her parents are big ol’ nerds whose idea of fun involves sitting in front of a keyboard (I have no idea where my daughter got this habit), so they got grandbaby Iliana a keyboard of her own. She looks so happy being just like Mommy and Daddy.

But there’s been an alarming progression. Now Iliana has gone all cyberpunky, bathing in the glow of the LEDs and gazing raptly into the digital future. I guess I’m going to have to get her some mirrorshades for Christmas, and before you know it, she’s going to be demanding cybernetic augmentation, an Ono-Sendai deck, and shiny new eyes from Nikon.

She’s a lucky girl…I mean, transhuman.

That is a distinctly Borg-ish hue of green in that last picture. I conjecture that these baby photos are naught but a sneaky attempt at assimilation.

That looks suspiciously like my preferred cheap keyboard (for when I either need a cheap one or I need a bunch of them), the Logitech K-120 (my good keyboard is a Unicomp…look them up).

On the plus side, those pictures have supplied you with a way to provide her with presents for many, many years. In a couple of years, get her a Raspberry Pi 4B and supporting bits and pieces. Then add additional devices (breadboard, duPont cables, buttons, switches, sensors, etc.) and system upgrades. Not expensive, but you’ll never run out potential presents….

I was worried there for a second as she looked like she was poking into an open computer case. I need to get my eyes tested again.
