My breathing is impaired, shallow. I can assume there’s some amount of fluid in my lungs causing this, or maybe constriction in the bronchioles, I dunno, but my breathing is a bit impaired. Last night, my fingertips weren’t as pink as they usually are. Not the purple / blue of cyanosis, but I don’t love it. They say go to the hospital, but there’s already like three thousand of debt on my health care credit card. Last time the interest popped on it, it added $992 to the balance. I cain’t even with that shit.
Besides, what is the hospital going to tell me? Last time I was tested for similar shit they came back with nothing. They ruled out covid, they found nothing on chest x-rays. Guess I’ll wait til the fingertips go blue before I hitch a ride to the ER again. They’re still not as pink as I’d prefer.

When I was a kid there was an incident where I had shallow breathing. Someone identified it as asthma, but I didn’t otherwise have asthma, and we didn’t realize “just asthma” can be life threatening. Apparently I was turning blue, and ended up at the hospital.
Pointedly not giving medical advice, but I can say what they did at the hospital. They put me at the front of the urgent care queue and immediately put me on a nebulizer.
anyone who knows me knows i don’t like to take chances, so i’m watchin this like a hawk and will get to the ER if it gets worse. i got used to not getting sick during covid and don’t remember – to what extent is this normal for the flu or whatever? annoying.
some kinda rubber cement shit is coming out of my throat now. hopefully it makes room for air.
Definitely hoping things get better for you quickly.
I’ve been extremely fortunate not to have anything major in my lungs for a decade or more, including my first covid back in april this year. It stayed mostly in my head and throat, and I had fortunately gotten my albuterol inhaler replaced not too long prior. Still took multiple months after that for the ‘try to draw a full breath and start a coughing fit’ gunk and/or scarring to completely clear out.
The only time I had thick, sticky, yellow mucus was with viral pneumonia.
I was in high school, 50 mumble years ago.
As I recall, my treatment was bed rest and plenty of fluids.
I guess it worked.
thanks, fellas. i think it can be useful to get other people’s experiences.
Expressing my concern and hoping for your immediate recovery.
It’s been a while, but I think I remember something about those fingertip oxygen sensors, and if someone is much below the high 90s, it’s serious cause for concern. Not sure how that correlates with pink/blue fingertips.
Hope you recover soon, sorry I don’t have any useful advice.
still sick but not as bad as 24 hours ago? thanks for the well wishes, for real.
Glad to hear it’s improving.
yeah, it’s noticeably better now. thank fuck, that difficulty breathing shit is creepy.
