Change of plans?

Sadly, I thought I was too busy to be able to attend the Reason Rally. But now I might just have to go anyway.

Members of the secular community are expecting to see Richard Dawkins, James Randi, PZ Myers, Hemant Metha, Greta Christina, David Silverman, Jessica Ahlquist and many more well-known personalities at the Reason Rally, an event slated to be the largest gathering for the secular community in history, but some other unexpected guests — in addition to the list of speakers and performers — from the Westboro Baptist Church will also be in attendance.

Wait, “Hemant Metha”?

    Wait, “Hemant Metha”?

Actually the guy I question is David Silverman. But that’s because I have a prejudice against obnoxious, arrogant, pompous jerks.

“Atheists, Megan Phelps-Roper explains, deny God and should read Romans 1:22-29 which talks of atheists who have professed themselves to be wise and became fools and are filled with unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness and maliciousness. She also quoted Psalm 14:1 which says, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no god…”

Been there, done that! What next?

I think if I were pushing a religion that obviously didn’t square with reality, I might write something like that, too.

    • Deacon Duncan says

      Dear Megan,

I can’t tell you how much it grieves me to be called a “fool” by someone who cheers at funerals. I wish I could, but the English language has no words for quantities that small.

      Deacon Duncan.

Guess what the LHC will be looking for once they find the Higgs Boson? That’s right, it’s the Deacon Duncan Givashit.

Beyond that…any God that would support the likes of the Philips cult is unworthy of worship. Even if It exists, the only moral approach is total and absolute rejection.

It particularly irks me when the religious claim that atheists deny god. We can’t deny something which has not been demonstrated to exist. Show me the irrefutable evidence for your god and then I might be a denier if I say it doesn’t exist.

atheists … are filled with unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness and maliciousness

Aww shucks, t’weren’t nothin’. Just some of the side benefits.
