We just saw that on the news (without audio), I think I originally estimated the driver’s age at 87, so I wasn’t far off 🙂

I wondered why she seemed to be wearing a blindfold in the video and thought it might be a training session.
Excellent quick thinking on everyone’s part.

I have a guide dog, so I’m both quite interested in this video and unable to see it.

    Could someone describe it please?

What the video shows is an 18-month old Golden Retriever guide dog named O’Neil who was in the final weeks of his testing of suitability for going into service. He was guiding a blindfolded trainee instructor, accompanied by an experienced instructor.

The three were walking on a city sidewalk towards an intersection when at some point O’Neil stopped and looked back. This made the trained instructor look back too and he saw a car moving fast in reverse along the sidewalk and coming straight at them. Showing remarkably quick thinking he and the dog guided the blindfolded trainee to the corner and around the bend just in time to escape the car, which went through the intersection and crashed into a building on the other side. A second or two delay and all three would have been run over.

Thanks for that. We really do put our lives in their paws.

I shall go hug mine now.
