With very little notice, I’m going to be in the Berkeley-Oakland area Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 26 & 27. My schedule is somewhat in flux at the moment what with borrowing cars and catching up with close friends and family I haven’t seen in too long, but should there be sufficient interest in a FlashHorde Beer Hour, I will carve out the time to make that happen. Discuss.

Hell, I’m surprised this thread isn’t crawling with responses already. I’d gladly buy Clarke a beer. Like most of his writing that I’ve seen, and although I’m not cut out for desert living, I did spend a bit of time in the Mojave, and it’s certainly an interesting place.

I so wish I could, especially as those are my days off! But bars and I don’t mix well. :/

Now, if it was a flashhorde hike/rockhounding/botany type trip I’d be ALL over that. :P

If there is some spillover of undead from the Valley* area (see MTV;s “Death Valley”) maybe you should get one of those ridicilous 50-round ammo drums for your Glock. Only legitimate use of that item.
.
*I have very vague ideas of Californian geography. There is the rainy part in the north where Christopher Moore’s fictional “Pine Cove” is located (´lotsa monsters), and the scorced part in the south where Odd Thomas talks with the dead and fights aliens. Say “hi” to Greg Benford and tell him to write more SF.

re birgerjohansson @7:
For science fiction reference to “the Bay Area”; Starfleet Academy is in San Francisco! And Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home” took place all over the region (Alameda and Monterey played big parts, and they parked the starship (cloaked, of course) right there in GoldenGate Park. “don’t forget where we parked”).
Enough Trekkie review for now… ;-P

If I know when and where, I might be there and then. Bars, beers, and other booze are fine. It would be nice to meet you and perhaps some other Pharyngulites.

PS: I just promoted this blog post by starting a discussion on Meetup’s Bay Area Atheists/Agnostics/Humanists/Freethinkers/Skeptics group – asked that, if interested, they comment here.

Looks like there is a Beer Not God on Tuesday at 6 at Era in Oakland. Era us a good choice, it can be a but daunting to find any room in a bar in Oakland these days…
I’ve never been to Beer Not God though (but should go)

I’m up for it.
My knowledge of Oakland is pretty much limited to Jack London Sq. and the immediate vicinity of the Paramount Theater, so I think someone else will have choose the venue. Close to a BART station would be helpful.
