The Koran for dummies

I have tried to read the Koran on several occasions but have never been able to make it all the way through. I keep getting stalled because the writing is so turgid that its meaning is hard to determine without great effort. The fact that I have strong suspicions that after all that effort I am not going to end up with anything useful also dampens any motivation.

Using drug tests to humiliate people

Aasif Mandvi from The Daily Show goes to Florida to investigate their policy of forcing people to take drug tests in order to get welfare benefits. It is quite extraordinary the lengths these people will go to make people who are down on their luck feel like scum.

Atlas Shrugged II – More trains!

Ayn Rand devotees will be delighted to hear that part two of the film made from their icon’s hit book will be released before the elections so that they can all – well actually I am not sure what the film is supposed to tell them to do, other than perhaps prepare them to go Galt if the Kenyan-Muslim-Communist-Alinskyite is re-elected in November.
