Jon Stewart blasts the White House Correspondents Dinner

This annual event, where Washington-based journalists meet, eat, drink, and schmooze with the people they cover, with other celebrities thrown in, is a disgusting example of the incestuous world of politics, shattering the illusion that these reporters are hard-hitting seekers of the truth even if their work antagonizes politicians. This year Trump was the main speaker and to say that he bombed is putting it mildly. Even his ardent supporters found it hard to find anything good in his rambling tirade of venomous insults.

Jon Stewart, in a funny skewering of Trump’s dreadful speech says that the event should be put in the dustbin. As a stand-up comedian, Stewart knows how to tell jokes and he brutally dissects Trump’s ineptness at telling even the simplest ones.

I love Jon Stewart and the other late night comedy hosts (yes, I know Stewart is partially retired). Since 2016 they have presented bad news in a ‘dark comedy’ manner, and they bring up things mainstream US media find too “controversial”.

And on that note: “Alien Super Show”
    presented by extraterrestrials.

After what Donnie Diaper Dump did to 60 Minutes, any journalist with a microgram of integrity should have boycotted that dinner. Or perhaps they did.

birger, I love John Stewart too.

Since he wasn’t easily accessible to me in 2016, I spent that rough era taking comfort from The Master, Stephen Colbert. He got me through some rough times.

Now, since the fascist functionary Bari Weiss has turned CBS into a fawning Trump lapdog, Colbert is banished, but of course he and Stewart are so good that they will find willing outlets to keep helping us anywhere they want.
