I cannot help wondering what Jonathan Pie would have said were he Dutch. See, when the Taliban took Kabul the first priority of the three (!) responsible Dutch ministers was to quarrel about procedures and ….. responsibility. Only then PM Mark Rutte thought it necessary to get involved. Last Thursday or Friday the Dutch preparations (!) for evacuation started.
Compare France. That country started preparing months ago and evacuating last Monday, ie immediately.
