Our president is a bloody-minded child

In a horrible, tragic incident, a man with a history of mental illness climbed a fence at a South Yorkshire zoo and walked up to a Siberian tiger, which did what a tiger does. It swiftly killed him. His family is grieving. It’s all over the news — this was such a rare and unusual event.

Our mentally ill president, who watches television constantly, saw the video, and rather than doing something anywhere close to presidential, or what a sober adult would do, like expressing his sympathies, chose to eruct on social media.

Donald Trump reposted a silent 41-second video apparently showing the attack on his Truth Social account on Tuesday, captioning it: “Don’t ever mess with nature! President DJT.”

A minute later, he posted a 24-second video compilation of lion attacks on people, this one accompanied by jaunty music.

So presidential. So dignified.

Can someone take him to the zoo and leave a few cage doors unlocked?

It got worse.

“President Trump posted a wild AI-generated video late Tuesday that showed him chasing, tackling and befriending a Siberian tiger, hours after he had warned his Truth Social followers: ‘Don’t ever mess with nature!’” the New York Post reports.

A big lesson here. Don’t keep dangerous animals like tigers in displays a mentally ill person can access. If I was president, that would be my message and suggestion to zoos nationwide. Common sense in America seems to be dead.

  2. Wolfie says

He also posted an AI video of himself in the place of the victim but then ending with him chasing the tiger

and @ comment 1, this incident happened in the UK, the health and safety executive are investigating how it was possible for a zoo visitor to access the enclosure and ensuring it doesn’t happen again

The tackiest most gross narcissist to enter national politics has scared the Yellow Party so much that no one dares criticise him no matter what he does.
    .
The silence from everyone with an (R) next to the name is damning.
This should automatically render those congressmen ineligible for any public office. It is like electing people who do not bother to call the police when they see someone get stabbed.
Mitt Romney was a boring arch-conservative bible-thumper, but he had more courage than all the bacterial (R) slime combined.

  4. raven says

Yeah, posting a snuff video of a tiger killing a mentally ill human is just socially wrong.
About on the level of the fire squad killing of a convicted shooter in a wheel chair on TV, which is Hegseth’s latest plan.

Trump is deep into senile dementia these days.
Very little of what he says and does makes any sense.

I saw a video of him walking back to his helicopter yesterday.
He can’t walk in a straight line any more. He wandered with his head down, drifting to the left until he was almost to the door.
There should have been 2 or 3 people next to him, guiding him and making sure he doesn’t fall.
This is getting into the territory of elder abuse, joining the senator from Kentucky, who is obviously mentally absent.

The Republicans will wave it off as a ‘joke’
    .
Let us not forget that the senatorial dude from Texas stayed silent even when Trump insulted his wife. They are not even chordates.
Political tunicates? I am a bit shaky about phyla.

  6. raven says

The unfortunate death by misadventure and tiger happened in the UK.
For once, you can’t blame the USA.

And it might be a good idea to figure out what went wrong and make sure people can’t easily get into the tiger’s living area.

Incidents like this aren’t all that uncommon though.
Humans are agile bipeds who can climb and jump. They can get into a lot of places if they try hard enough.

I remember when somehow a child fell into the gorilla enclosure at the Cinncinati zoo.
The keepers promptly killed the gorilla, just in case it attacked, although there was no evidence it was going to attack.

The famous child-and-gorilla incident involving Harambe happened at the Cincinnati Zoo on May 28, 2016.
    • Date: May 28, 2016

    • Location: Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden (Cincinnati, Ohio), specifically in the “Gorilla World” exhibit.

    • What happened: A 3-year-old boy crawled through a barrier and fell into the gorilla enclosure, where a 17-year-old western lowland gorilla named Harambe grabbed and dragged him. The zoo’s dangerous-animal response team shot and killed Harambe to protect the child, who survived with non-life-threatening injuries.
(Note: There was an incident in Cleveland at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in April 2015, where a 2-year-old boy fell into a cheetah exhibit after his mother dangled him over a railing, and he was safely rescued.)

    One more Darwin award.

A South Carolina woman named Cynthia Covert tried to pet an alligator in July 2019, and the animal killed her.
    Details of the Incident

    • Location: Kiawah Island, South Carolina (near Charleston).
    • Victim: 58-year-old Cynthia Covert.
    • What Happened: Covert walked up to a lagoon where a 10-foot alligator was partially on the bank or in shallow water and attempted to pet it while recording video.
    • The Attack: The alligator grabbed her and pulled her into the water. Even after briefly escaping to the water’s edge, she was pulled under a second time and drowned.

I don’t know, maybe don’t try to pet alligators.

I heard on the internet that Donald Trump is going to tear down the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument and the Reflecting Pool to build a Coliseum where he can hold Lions versus Muslim, Blacks Gays and Trans battles.

For some reason, cheetas do not seem to regard humans as potential prey. Maybe their hunting instinct require a moving quadroped to be activated?

BTW even large herbivores are a potential danger. A ‘rogue male’ hippo can bite you in half. They kill more people than lions.
    .
We have seen way too many examples of DJTs awful conduct the last ten years. After the midterms any pragmatic republicans will have no reason to suck up to him. This is the time to shame them.

We (meaning you Americans) have a duty to remind the public of what DJT is capable of; abandoning Syrian Kurd allies, dissolving the group responsible for monitoring new infectious diseases, banging a porn actress while married, accepting obvious bribes, letting Netanyahu decide when the US goes to war et cetera. And keep up the pressure about the Epstein papers!

BTW I must ask for a bit of help. Are there any land-living hemichordates or other relatives of vertebrates? Because the political kind has no spine whatsoever.

Similar thing happened here in Berlin Zoo almost 20 years ago, but with polar bears. Fortunately the woman could be rescued in time.

I have heard that there have been exactly ZERO human deaths from cheetahs, which someone else explained as “yeah, cheetahs are cool with humans”.

Wasn’t there also an case of a toddler getting into a gorilla enclosure, and a female gorilla cuddling the kid? Thought sure I read that somewhere.

    pixelatedboat (2018 satire):

On his first night in the White House, President Trump complained that the TV in his bedroom was broken, because it didn’t have “the gorilla channel”. Trump seemed to be under the impression that a TV channel existed that screened nothing but gorilla-based content, 24 hours a day.

To appease Trump, White House staff compiled a number of gorilla documentaries into a makeshift gorilla channel, broadcast into Trump’s bedroom from a hastily constructed transmission tower on the South Lawn. However, Trump was unhappy with the channel they had created, moaning that it was “boring” because “the gorillas aren’t fighting”.

Staff edited out all the parts of the documentaries where gorillas weren’t hitting each other, and at last the president was satisfied. “On some days, he’ll watch the gorilla channel for 17 hours straight,” an insider told me. “He kneels in front of the TV, with his face about four inches from the screen, and says encouraging things to the gorillas, like ‘the way you hit that other gorilla was good’. I think he thinks the gorillas can hear him.”

    @birgerjohansson:

A ‘rogue male’ hippo can bite you in half. They kill more people than lions.

Well, yeah. Lions are smart enough to understand that an adult human is a potential threat, and that there’s probably easier prey elsewhere.

Hippos are bigger than lions, extremely territorial, and just plain ornery. They are entirely willing to prioritize ‘that’s my spot’ over the (in their opinion unlikely) possibility you could actually hurt them.

  16. beholder says

Well, at least they didn’t shoot Harambe this time. The tiger is still alive. Good.

There’s really only so much you can do to physically deter an intelligent, fully-grown, goal-driven, and persistent human. I think it’s entirely acceptable to design the enclosure to keep the megafauna in and keep human babies out.

@ birgerjohansson : “I must ask for a bit of help. Are there any land-living hemichordates or other relatives of vertebrates?”

    Hemichordates specifically, seems not :

. They (Hemichordates -ed.) appear in the Lower or Middle Cambrian and include two main classes: Enteropneusta (acorn worms), and Pterobranchia. A third class, Planctosphaeroidea, is known only from the larva of a single species, Planctosphaera pelagica. The subclass Graptolithina, formerly considered extinct,[2] is now placed within the pterobranchs, represented by a single living genus Rhabdopleura.

    .

    Source : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemichordate

    Plus :

Until recently, it was thought that all species (of acorn worms aka Enteropneusta -ed) lived in the sediment on the seabed, subsisting as deposit feeders or suspension feeders. However, the early 21st century has seen the description of a new family, the Torquaratoridae, evidently limited to the deep sea..,

    Source : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acorn_worm

    As well as :

Pterobranchia, members of which are often called pterobranchs, is a class of small worm-shaped animals. They belong to the Hemichordata, and live in secreted tubes on the ocean floor. Pterobranchia feed by filtering plankton out of the water with the help of cilia attached to tentacles. There are about 25 known living pterobranch species in three genera, which are Rhabdopleura, Cephalodiscus, and Atubaria. On the other hand, there are several hundred extinct genera, some of which date from the Cambrian Period.

    Source : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pterobranchia

The Planctosphaera pelagica.is described a s free-swimming and according toits wikipage only the larvae of that are known.

Other than that I guess it depends how far you’d ike to stretch the “relatives of vertebrates” definition out? Molluscs, crustaceans, insects, velvet worms etc..?

tRUMP is the figurehead of a hugely funded rtwingnut xtian terrorist war on honesty and sanity. He is (and has been ) obviously mentally defective and an imbecile. The insanity seems to be spreading. And, from the 1960s I hear The Animals singing, “We gotta get outta this place. if it’s the last thing we ever do.”
tRUMP taco’d on televising the firing squad execution of the guy in the wheelchair. Likely, only because it would damage his ‘image’, not out of any sense of decency (he has none). He has always been an ignorant murderous coward. Read about his full page ad of lies on the ‘Central Park Five’ decades ago. WTF

Stormy Daniels describing Trump from about 20 years ago:

You could see the television from the little dining room table and he was watching Shark Week and he was watching a special about the U.S.S. something and it sank and it was like the worst shark attack in history. He is obsessed with sharks. Terrified of sharks. He was like, “I donate to all these charities and I would never donate to any charity that helps sharks. I hope all the sharks die.” He was like riveted. He was like obsessed.
