Say hi to Tammy Faye…in Hell

Jim Bakker is dead. Remember him for his accomplishments.

Bakker was convicted after a ‌six-week trial in federal court on all 24 fraud and conspiracy charges brought against him. Prosecutors said he defrauded followers of $158m by selling promises of lifetime annual vacations that he could not provide. They said he siphoned $3.7m to bankroll a lavish lifestyle that included several homes, luxury cars, mink coats, diamonds, servants – and an air-conditioned dog house.

Religion really helps skim off $158 million. That’s its primary virtue.

His legacy? Buckets of freeze-dried, powdered apocalypse food to fuel the doomsday he experienced today.

A trifecta of shady people in the religious/ conservative sphere.
Jim Bakker, and Saturday wossname the former speaker of the House (R) who SAed boys during his time as a coach.
And the British tory politician / author who went to prison for perjury after a scandal with prostitutes.

    Good times.

Needed to happen decades ago. Can’t fully blame him, people are gullible and fell for his claptrap.

… he defrauded followers of $158m … he siphoned $3.7m to bankroll a lavish lifestyle that included several homes, luxury cars, mink coats, diamonds, servants …

He only spent 2.5% of what he scammed? $3.7M wouldn’t get much more than one McMansion these days.

    … – and an air-conditioned dog house.

Reportedly, the A/C made so much noise the dog wouldn’t stay in the house.

Tammy Faye in Hell too? She had her downsides but seems to have had much less regressive views on gay people than most of the evangelical right. It might be hyperbole to call her a gay icon, but it’s been said before.

Tammy Faye was just as much of a grifter piece of shit as her ex-husband. She was better at it, though — she got away with it.
