I was re-reading Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions a decade ago (it was thirty years after publication, now forty) and was in shock about just how optimistic she was about some very basic rights and civil kindnesses towards women that still hadn’t been realized yet.
Meh, I’ve never been a fan of her middle class, privileged white lady version of feminism. Later it was revealed that she was a CIA operative within the civil rights movement and was proud of her work destroying the black power movement.
Her support for Intersectionality came much later, with second and third wave feminism, and political expediency.
It may have been sincere, but doesn’t erase her harmful influence.
