What a strange feeling…

I’m not used to this. I’m accustomed to deep disappointment the day after an election, but this year, the results all rolled my way.

Amy Klobuchar won the DFL nomination for governor. I told you, she’s a machine, she got about 90% of the votes. She’ll be competing with Republican Lisa Demuth, not Mike Lindell. Lindell was a joke, Klobuchar will have to work a little harder to beat Demuth.

Peggy Flanagan is the DFL choice for the senate, and will be running against Michele Tafoya, who I know nothing about. Either way, Minnesota will have a woman governor and senator in November.

In my local house election, it will be Erik Osberg vs. the odious Michelle Fischbach.

There we go, my record this year is 100% successful predictions. Of course, that was just the primaries, there’s still time for crushing failure and disappointment in a few months.

    Assuming the elections go ahead. I wouldn’t bet on that.

    Or that fi they do they won’t be rigged for the Repugs. Eeven more than they already are.

    We all know how with the Repugs and Trumpists every accusation is a confession and so much projection from them esp over elections and fraud.

    Also we know Trump does NOT believe in Democracy and does believe in Fascism. So yeah. Wish I could be optimistic.

    Guess at least the Pillow guy klown Lindell is now NOT going to hold any high office or be in Congress. Small mercy there.

    No so. You know that she is willing to post that “R” beside her name on the ballot, which means she is a horrible person.

    PZ, you might be interested to know Klobuchar’s running mate stopped by one of our anti-ICE protests in Morris and borrowed one of my signs. My signs explicitly called them out as fascists.

    Meanwhile in neighboring Wisconsin, centrist* David Crowley beat Democratic Socialist Francesca Hong in the Democratic primary for governor [NPR] by a mere 0.4%, and that’s after the establishment Democrats pulled out all the stops against Hong.

    *I’m reminded of PZ’s wonderful epithet, “halfway to crazy town.” 8-)

    There is always sufficient time for the Democratic Party leaders to fumble a clear win into a complete loss, no matter how bad the GQP Party acts. The Democratic Party leadership have long been the Washington Generals* of the political world. Which is why I am not a member, but still vote for them anyway, because the alternative is fascism.

    *For those who don’t know, the Washington Generals is the team that perpetually travels with and “loses” to the Globetrotters basketball team.

    Why were they so scared of Hong? Partially because she is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, an organization that calls for public ownership of large corporations, looser immigration laws, and the abolition of prisons. Hong has said that she does not agree with all of the DSA platform, but she entered the contest with an unscrubbed Twitter account, full of the most voter-repelling, peak-2020 statements you can imagine. In the COVID era, when joyless leftist platitudes were all the rage, she criticized Thanksgiving as a “colonizer holiday” and “the original superspreader event that killed Indegenous [sic] folx and women.” (Wait, does folx—a baffling attempt to make the already gender-neutral word folks even more inclusive—not include women?) Further searches of her Twitter account revealed that she also disliked Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and even Halloween, which she said was “not my thing.”

    Not exactly unslanted or objective reporting.

    When ‘baffling’ and ‘voter-repelling’ and such loaded terms are bandied, it’s more polemic than reportage.

    Peggy Flanagan looks to be an excellent and principled candidate, her “Protect Trans Kids” shirt has many conservatives (and pathetic libs) frothing at the mouth and asking questions already answered by the shirt.
