This country, controlled by the evil magat, plutocratic, xtian terrorist regime, has been destroying the gains of the Emancipation Proclamation and all human rights. Juneteenth should be a celebration, but tRUMP has tried to obliterate it as he and his cockroaches push us further and faster down the Death Spiral.
I seek remedies to this nationwide rot, but, I don’t find any with sufficient power to effect improvement.

For some reason my community will have its celebration on June 28. I volunteered to help register voters at the event. Seems an appropriate way to celebrate Juneteenth. Making jokes, taking pot shots, being discouraged, saying there’s nothing we can do guarantees Trump victories. I will be working diligently between now and November to keep good progressive people in office and to vote the baddies out. I hope all of you will do the same.
Juneteenth was recognized as a federal holiday in 2021, when the 117th U.S. Congress enacted and President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law. Juneteenth became the first new federal holiday since Martin Luther King Jr. Day was adopted in 1983.[10]
The holiday’s name, first used in the 1890s, is a portmanteau of June and nineteenth, referring to June 19, 1865, the day when Major General Gordon Granger ordered the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas at the end of the American Civil War.[8][9]

Early Juneteenth celebrations date back to 1866, at first involving church-centered community gatherings in Texas. They spread across the South among newly freed African-Americans and their descendants and became more commercialized in the 1920s and 1930s, often centering on a food festival. Participants in the Great Migration brought these celebrations to the rest of the country. During the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, Juneteenth celebrations were eclipsed by the nonviolent determination to achieve civil rights, but they grew in popularity again in the 1970s, with a focus on African-American freedom and African-American arts. Beginning with Texas by proclamation in 1938, and by legislation in 1979, every U.S. state and the District of Columbia has formally recognized the holiday in some way.

Extra thanks to former President Joe Biden and bet Trump ain’t doing anything to celebrate this and would rather abolish it instead.

Thanks John Morales, StevoR,
Of course it was lazy of me not to look it up myself. It suddenly struck me that I had only heard the term in the last several years, and I posted the question almost as a reflex!

The tl:dr is that Juneteenth is another step in cashing the check of freedom that this nation has promised but never actually stood for.
Carrying this energy forward.
I’m going to be calling all my right-wing friends thicky thicky dumb dumb today.
