I was croaking my way through lab today, when one student told me…
“This class has more math than any of my other classes!”
Which means I’m teaching it well. We haven’t even gotten to enzyme kinetics yet — that’s Friday.

Was there a note of surprise about so much math in a biology class?
For us nerds who like math, your subject suddenly got more attractive.
Clearly this was not a British student.
It only has one math. That’s not much. Most science classes in the rest of the English speaking world has two or more maths in it.
When I was co-teaching a Genetics class a student came up to my colleague after the first lecture and asked, “Will this class be hard?”
He replied, “Yes. It will be hard. And that’s Good!”
I high-fived him!
