    Was never into the Evil Dead movies, but he was great in the series Burn Notice. Ughhh!

    Mr. Campbell specified that his cancer appears to be curable, a conclusion that is surely the result of some skilled investigation. Thus, we can probably look forward to more performances and entertaining appearances in media. Quite possibly how his cancer experience informed his latest performance. His message comes across to me as “Things suck a bit more right now, so I’m going to be busy for a little while, don’t worry about it”. So, I’ll sit back and wait for the pleasure of my expectations of a Bruce Campbell performance interacting with the reality of that performance, an experience that has been worth my time and money in everything I’ve seen him in.

    Dibwys Campbell says specifically “a type of cancer that is “treatable” not “curable””.

    @PZ
    “All anyone can do is face it with courage and grace”.

    It’s also OK to be frightened, depressive and having nor the energy nor wish to put on a graceful performance as this can be exhausting on top.

    Coincidentally, I just had lunch today with my old and close friend.
    The one who they just discovered has a large tumor on her thyroid. The whole gland has got to go.

    That is one of the things everyone gets to discover as they grow older.
    Watching your favorite authors, musicians, and artists die.
    Not to mention all your friends and family.
    And your pets. My old cat is 19 and she won’t see 20.

    The whole idea of Intelligent Design is self refuting.
    A benign godlike being would never design a world that looks like ours.

    Today I learned about Roy Book Binder, John Hammond Jr and now Bruce. Fuck this, I’m going back to bed.

    There have been a surge of improved cancer treatments the past two decades but obviously nothing like a general cure for cancer.

    I hope he, and others in this situation can delay the progress of the disease long enough for treatments that are in the trial stage to become available.
    Unlike everyone else in history we live at a time when “the emperor of maladies” is slowly being beaten back.

    Unfortunately cancer is diverse, brutal, and at times devastating. There will never be A cure for cancer. There are a few that under specific circumstances can be cured, but most are managed. We continue to get better at this.

    In short: fuck cancer and may Bruce die in extreme old age of some other issue.
