I’m somehow on this email list called “evolutionary leaders,” which is not what it sounds like. This is an organization led by a gang of New Age weirdos, and I only remain on it for the hilarity. I thought I’d share a little bit of my amusement.
This morning I received an announcement that this is the Year of the Fire Horse.
Why the “fire horse”? They don’t explain. I think they just liked the graphic.
They were announcing an event on February 20, which has historical precedent. They’ve done it before!

The Harmonic Convergence was in part a ripoff of Aztec and Mayan traditions, mangled through the interpretations of others. At least Jose Arguelles, the big promoter of the idea, was part Mexican, although I have no idea if he had Mayan blood.

Why Kochab? Back then it was the star closest to the northern Celestial pole instead of Polaris. A fitting seat for the supreme deity.

A long time I picked up and perused a New Age magazine for the lulz. Yeah, building a new bridge has been a thing for years in large part because the old bridge is privately owned, and not only has it not been enough to handle traffic for years, but yeah, the guy who owns it is an asshole who has been actively trying to prevent anybody from working around the bridge in any way.
Of course, on top of that threat, one of the bits in Trump’s post was that if Canada makes a Free Trade deal with China, supposedly China would try to ban hockey. And, I’m like, what? I’m going to assume that Trump has no idea that North Korea hired Canadians to help train their ice hockey team at one point, so it’s not as if we haven’t had connections over there for decades. (Heck, Pierre Trudeau had his own version of the ‘Only Nixon Could Go To China’ moment. The main problem with Canadian-Chinese trade lately has been a result of Canada being asked to extradite a Chinese national who was a Huawei exec, so that was actually the U.S.’s fault.)
