I’d heard a few rumors about this program, Chorus, in which pro-Democrat ‘influencers’ formed a bloc to coordinate their support for liberal policies, which superficially sounded like a good idea, except for how it is implemented. Members had to swear secrecy, promise to never criticize their fellow Chorus members, and get their opinions vetted by their paymasters. This sounds an awful lot like the secret deal Tim Pool, Dave Rubin, and Benny Johnson made with Russians, except that the pay was much lower, $8000/month rather than hundreds of thousands of dollars. I consider transparency to be a significant value, so Chorus goes directly against that.
Rebecca Watson summarizes the story for us.
I’m convinced now that I shouldn’t trust Brian Tyler Cohen and David Pakman, because they are unable to be forthright about their perspective or who is paying them. I like my sources to be open and unconstrained by big money.
Money is the root of all evil.
Not to mention their silence on the genocide occurring in Gaza which was suspect even before these revelations.
I find Brian Tyler Cohen unwatchable. BTC is a wandering blowhard whose point is tiny and hidden in a whole lot of timewasting. It may or may not have anything to do with the title of his post. He falls into the tl:dw category for me. If he ever had a point, and sometimes he really doesn’t seem to?, it’s easier and more coherent to hear it from just about anybody else.
I think I recently saw a YouTube ad where Brian Tyler Cohen claimed to be independent, not receiving money from anyone except its viewers. Anyone else saw that or am I misremembering?
I have watched a number of David Pakman’s videos, but I have been increasingly disappointed, he never seems to say much. He thinks Trump is an idiot, like duh! I also saw a piece he did on Chorus, not the one Watson showed, which had all the weaknesses she mentioned. I guess I can stop wasting my time watching Pakman.
