This is of course an excellent film, and one of my personal favorites. (Consumption, colonialism, and Manifest Destiny).
Antonia Bird, the director passed away about ten years ago, and I often wonder where her career would have gone by now.

Wendigo take.
The soundtrack alone is enough to make this a favorite.
I well remember “Priest”, in which Robert Carlyle also appeared as the lover of Linus Roache’s character. The ending scene of Priest is staggering, entire congregation rejecting him at ‘communion’ except for the girl mentioned whom he rescued from her rapist father.
I tend to disagree with you, PZ, to some extent on all your movie opinions. But I saw this one in theater and have always been a huge fan. Ravenous is special. Love it.

I’m just kind of wondering to myself … does it taste like chicken? Squid, perhaps? Garlic bread? Or I don’t know what … key lime pie?

cr @6: I imagine there’s a reason it’s sometimes called ‘long pig’.
this movie is on my top 20 fav list. saw it when it first came out – fan fucking tastic! and creepy as fuck (the cave section – GAH!) Also “He was LICKING me!” has become one of our household memes. Especially with licky licky doggos!

So what is the collective opinion on Bone Tomahawk? Excellent tension and super grisly in the last third.

Atun-Shei’s other videos are also well worth watching, especially the ones aboit the Lost Cause myth.
Bone Tomahawk are you kidding!!!!!!!!!!!! One of the absolute BEST movies I have seen in YEARS!!!!!!!!!!! Great acting, UNBELIEVABLE dialogue I cared about every single character on screen and then there was THAT scene!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Watched it twice in a row and then bought it! Bonus, Kurt Russell ‘s facial hair should have had a screen credit all it ‘s own!

Soundtrack by Michael Nyman and Damon Albarn, the latter now making music with the Gorillaz, another favorite band of mine.

I second that. His Checkmate Lincolnite series is hilarious and informative. His deconstruction of the lost cause myth is always on point.
