Painted plywood, dirt trails, and a cornpone old guy

Kent Hovind has been working on “Dinosaur Adventure Land”, Part Deux, on a pretty piece of property in Lenox, Alabama, and it’s gotten him a credulous, friendly online interview. If you want to see what it looks like, Hovind himself gives a video tour — there doesn’t seem to be much at all there. This one photo says it all.

Man, it must be rough when he and Ken Ham get together, if they ever do. It’s a toss-up whether Hovind would be mortified in the competition over who has the fancier big boat, or Ham who would be shamed by the fact that Kent is offering the same amount of scientific information that he is.

    Wonderful! – pure PZ!

That’s an ark? Without oakum it’s hokum. And notice how there aren’t enough funds to repair the latticework on the far side of the wheel house.

I do kind of wonder about all the nice people (kind of sort of me included) who grew up with nice stories and cartoons and animal toys of Noah’s ark have to feel about all these creationists honing in and shoving dinosaurs into them; I mean… that’s silly, dinosaurs are extinct… and then when they buy little model arks with toy lions and zebras (c’mon… admit it you loved those as a kid) they scowl and say “No! No! You don’t get it! It isn’t cute! It’s serious!”

I mean if I can’t have my own fairy tales and cartoons I want no part of their surliness.

That ‘adventure park’ is so pathetic it is actually almost charming. I want to pat the poor dear condescendingly on the noggin.

Wow, too bad it’s so far away, because I would totally love to have that (after he goes out of business… again…) for my goats to play on. Well, it would work for goats to play on as long as it’s sturdier than it appears in the photo. Goats can be kind of hard on stuff. And I do feel the goats would get more out of it than humans would.

“…offering the same amount of scientific information…”

Well, you could replicate Galileo’s slope experiments on that slide.

Heh…tried to elicit the connection to the ‘heavenly apparition’ after the raining recedes…then got the color sequence of a rainbow wrong. Figures.

Do we yet have figures for the recent massive increase in Alabama tourism?

Only in the number of pedophiles who figure they have a shot at being nominated for a US Senate run.

That will only happen if he ends up in prison again, because that place is being run on donations from fans gullible enough to keep funding a felon, con man, and inveterate liar through thick and thin.

To the extent I can make out expressions on the painted faces of the animals, they certainly look like they are distressed and upset. The triceratops and the elephant look particularly worried.

Can anyone figure out the animal in front of the blue tyrannosaur(?)? It has antlers, but the head looks to me like some sort of floppy-eared dog, not any kind of cervid.

Seriously that slide has no slope. You aren’t going to get way from the Ark using the slide. How do you even get on the slide? It looks like a ramp up to the slide. Maybe you are supposed to walk up the slide and slide down the ramp into the Ark.

Clearly a basselope, although Berkely Breathed does it _much_better.

They just watched the crocoduck devour itself.

@17 fusilier: Looks to me more like the dog in “Grinch who Stole Christmas”.

I notice too the base is full of ball pit balls. I bet playing in there is awesome after a couple rainstorms.
