I like a Democrat who will not yield. Maxine Waters ripped into a Republican who wanted to repeal anti-discrimination laws.
Mike Kelly, by the way, made his moolah running car dealerships, and auto dealerships are rife with racial discrimination, which is why the law was passed in the first place.
The House then voted to nullify existing anti-discrimination laws. Because of course they did.
That was….amazing. I <3 Maxine!
With politicians like that there is hope for a better future.
It is a great thing that a black woman speaks up for herself. Now everybody who is not black and/or woman, but of good will, please stand up and second her.
I love the story about the black-ops CIA sub-contractors kidnapping the wildly popular freely-elected president of a sovereign nation and whisking him off to Africa, where they locked him in a hotel room. Which, ooooops, had a telephone. And so the kidnapped president thought about whom he should call, who had integrity, and would do the right thing.
“Hello, Maxine? Jean-Bertrand Aristide here. Could you help a brother out?”
Nevertheless, she persisted!
The mind of a rich old white guy simply can’t get around the idea of discrimination and or why it’s wrong. Good try though Congresswoman.
Doubting Thomas,
Well, see, he’s never been discriminated against. Why can’t she be more like him?
“Police called after black Yale student fell asleep in common room”
Kristof, this comes a day or so after someone made a meme of the white woman calling the police, and she’s superimposed over Dr. King giving a speech to a large crowd (yuge crowd!) in Washington, DC.
One of the commenters on a tweet with this meme said, “Be careful, officers! He has a dream!” Which must be why these exact words occurred to me in response to this story.
It’s a sick variant on the fortune cookie game. Any activity becomes a crime if you add the words “…while black.”
And then that “make America great again” bullshit… How does race discrimination make America great?
