It sounds like Roger Ailes is going to be fired from Fox News. It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy, but now I’m wondering who is on Rupert Murdoch’s short list of replacements?
-
Satan? Only problem is that he’s mythological, and is also in high demand to lead Christian megachurches.
-
Pat Robertson? He hasn’t had a sex scandal yet. (Has he? Don’t tell me, I don’t want to think about it.)
-
Alex Jones? He’d probably turn it down as he struggles to fit it into a false flag narrative.
-
The most likely, best choice, who would fit in perfectly with the ethos of the organization: Dick Cheney.

Why not just give Trump the job? Doesn’t he apparently want his own TV channel anyway? It seems like confining him to one channel might be an improvement.
Matrim says
Depends on what you define as a scandal. He fathered his first child out of wedlock and (probably) employed the services of prostitutes. Pretty light by Ted Haggard standards.

Karl Rove?!?!?

I say, in this climate of political correctness gone mad a manager can’t drop his pants and demand sex from a subordinate without a witch hunt! Bald eagles and flags everywhere are weeping right now for the death of Liberty!

I’m sure Satan took the megachurch gig as an excuse to pass on Fox News.

Why not promote Bill O’? He’d love to throw his weight around as the boss man. He would also be a sex scandal in waiting–perfect!
rietpluim says
PZ, you’re being very unfair to Satan.

How about a broom handle with a bag of shit tied to the end? Do wonders for their editorial standards…
Rich Woods says
Satan is unavailable for the foreseeable future. The Lord of Lies sincerely regrets signing an exclusivity contract with Dick Cheney.
Pierce R. Butler says
Though he may not have Ailes’s practiced eye for judging women’s legs, there’s an otherwise perfectly-qualified fellow named Ratzinger wandering around in Italy with nothing to do – who already has an inside connection to the False Noise network…
laurentweppe says
He’s got a sex scandal worse than Ailes’ in the eyes of Fox’ audience: he didn’t torture his gay daughter into a stepford wife

One possibility might be to promote the Senior VP of News Operations, Sharri Berg. According to her LinkedIn page, she’s be with Fox News for 20 years. She became the SVP of News Ops in 2005. She has a degree in journalism from American University. And she even considers Ailes a mentor.

Are you sure Murdoch and Satan aren’t the same person?

Re: Rich Woods #10:
Are you telling us Satan made a deal with devil? Of all (mythological) people, he should have known better! (Too obvious? Sorry.)
But I’m more surprised FOX is doing anything about this at all. It’s hard to imagine that they’d be bothered by the odd lawsuit or, hah, the image loss.
tacitus says
As fake as Fox News is, it’s way too close to reality for Alex Jones. He much prefers to remain in his fantasy world, filled with imaginary enemies and monsters under the bed. That way, he can continue to play the hero and martyr completely risk free.

robro @ #13
How dare you suggest that Faux News actually promote a woman to such a high position? That would be against everything that the channel stands for!
robro says
magistramarla — Indeed, I will not be bowled over when they don’t promote her.

What’s Muhammad Saeed al-Sahhaf up to these days?

That would turn him into Berlusconi. Be careful what you wish for… *shudder*
Would you believe it – my opinion of Ratzinger just dropped even lower.
Didn’t he die a heroic martyr’s death long ago?

Can Jean-Marie Le Pen speak English? If so, he is a bloody obvious candidate.

How about Boris Johnson? He has worked as a journalist, and once he’s insulted the few foreign leaders he didn’t get round to before his appointment as UK foreign secretary, I’m sure it won’t take up much of his time.
