And he even wrote a ballad for her!

Ann Coulter has been pestering me a lot, lately. Half the right-wing email I get seems to consist of that thick-skulled harpy howling insanely about Al Franken — she seems genuinely staggered by the possibility that us left-wing moonbats actually fought to get him elected.

I’m a bit dismayed to learn that she is Roy Zimmerman’s girlfriend.

…your dismay is probably nothing compared to Roy Zimmermans.

You’re dismayed? I’m horrified – the thought of Ann having the potential of passing her genetic data on to an offspring could very well make my head explode.

  4. Wowbagger says

The thought of going in after D’Souza is really horrifying.

Imagine if those two had spawned. The debt for psychological/psychiatric counselling would overtake the GDP of most third-world nations.

Zimmerman’s wife will take care of it.

Sorry to here that you get anything from Coulter. I hope you have powerful antibiotics.

Isn’t she getting a bit old for that?

Yeah, unless some truly evil scientist decides to clone her.

Ann Coulter writes to you?????? And you’re not posting the letters?

I suppose she could sue you, in spite of the disclaimer. But I’d love to see one of those encyclopedic collections of venom and logical fallacies if you’re feeling reckless.

  12. This Is Me Posting says

    I agree with #21.

Why haven’t there been any “I Get Mail – Ann Coulter Editions” posted yet?

    HILARITY.

Please don’t be an ignorant jerk, Ann is a perfectly valid (and in no way uncommon) variation of the name. Ann, Anna, Anne etc. There is no “ZOMG UAN TWU SHPELLIN EVARRRR” of names. Today’s traditional names are yesterday’s newfangled trendy versions of older names. Names, like words, mutate over time. Suck it up. Also, one can not control what one’s parents name you. Or are you implying that little Adolf Hitler and his sister Aryan Nation are the ones to blame for their names, not their parents?

That said, surely Ann Coulter is a troll who’s in it for the money, right? It doesn’t make any of what she’s done any better at all (it makes it worse, actually), but surely no one can be as articulate (second hand rumour, no idea if she really is) while still being as ignorant as she seems to be. She’s just a lot better at keeping up the mask than Stephen Colbert, but then again they do it for two very different reasons. (She is an IRL troll of the money obsessed sort, right? Please? ;_; )

I dated a conservative girl once. As a libertarian, it wasn’t too bad, but she also wasn’t an Evangelicrazy. I might have to shoot myself if I went out with Ann Coulter.

  15. CaptainKendrick says

A year or so ago, I was thinking about Ann, and read one of her columns that day, and recalled seeing her on Hannity and Colmes a few nights before that, and I just started thinking, man, she is so over the top, it almost seems purposely exaggerated. and this sudden idea popped into my head:

“Is she for real? I’m starting to wonder if her entire career has been a deliberate goof, that she has foisted upon us her shtick on purpose, either because she realized that if she inhabited this made-up character she created, she would either make tons of money, get lots of attention, or generate chuckles…and maybe, just maybe, one day she will make an announcement that she has been making it all up, pull the veil off and make the rest of the world laugh and point fingers at the stupid conservatives who thought she was on their side. That would be hilarious. Maybe this is just a very long prank of hers and she is out to punk the world. And maybe she’s not just punking conservatives, but liberals too who get all up-in-arms just as much”

I mean, I did read an interview with her once in which she revealed that she is a Deadhead. Whoah. Merry Prankster?

Then for shits and giggles, I googled this crazy notion of mine, and it turns out that there have been others out there with this theory or similar theories and the one I love best:

Andy Kaufman is not really dead. Ann Coulter is really Andy Kaufman. Go ahead, gooogle this. Weird stuff.

Wow. I entertained that thought for a while, then became disgusted with myself for even thinking this. First off, Andy Kaufman was much funnier (although I’ll admit that Ann does make me laugh — a lot). Me believing this would be, like, well, I may as well join the group who believes that we never walked on the moon. (get it?)

And besides, if any of this were true (forget the whole Kaufman rumor), the joke is old, and it’s time for Ann to come out of the closet, expose her joke and embarrass the Hannbaughreilly troglobytes who think she’s cool.

I don’t really believe any of it, but it was fun to kill a few hours at work one day a few years ago entertaining myself.

#31 @”What is up with the rampant misogyny every time some odious conservative woman is involved? ”

Can you be a misogynist to a transvestite? There an’t something right about the jaw and adams apple on that “woman” if you ask me.

  20. says

#33: I sense some levity, but I can’t be sure. So I’ll go ahead and give a serious reply. If you didn’t mean a thing you said, then apologies in advance.

First, of course it is misogyny if directed at a person primarily because the person is considered a woman within the context of hurling the invective, irrespective of whether the person is a transvestite, transsexual woman, or born female.

Second, it is pretty disgusting in its own right (even if it may not be misogyny) to think that some woman may not really be a woman because she doesn’t fit the social standard for being feminine.

  21. says

Going in after D’Souza? Fucking in the ass? Jeez! What is up with the rampant misogyny every time some odious conservative woman is involved?

    A comment about D’Souza is not misogyny. It’s a comment purely against D’Souza, and unless he’s grown a vagina…

  22. says

Of course it was a comment about D’Souza, how do I know?

There’s that indie movie about a vagina that has teeth in it. For some reason, it always makes me think of good ol’ Coulter. Not sure why!

Any magazine, web site or whatever that takes Coulter seriously, I will not take seriously.

  25. G says

Arvind, for what it’s worth, I agree. There’s no excuse for misogyny, even if it’s directed at someone so deserving of ridicule. The worst things people can think of to say about Ann Coulter all involve the fact that she’s a woman and that’s sad. Resorting to trans-hate isn’t any better. I’m astonished that so many otherwise intelligent, progressive people don’t see the problem.

Assuming that’s a serious question, he’s the very funny and talented musician who wrote and sang the song in the video at the top of this thread. If you’ve somehow never heard of him before, go check out his YouTube channel.

    @ G:

I’m astonished that so many otherwise intelligent, progressive people don’t see the problem.

Me, too. This happens every time she’s mentioned on any of the lefty blogs I read (except the feminist ones). It works great for exercising my “kill” button, though.

Roy’s been doing this song for a long time; in the mid-90’s he used to dedicate it to Ariana Huffington… and now you can read some of the most misogynist, crappiest comments about Coulter on HuffPost– when Ariana was the Coulter of the 90’s, sexist jokes about her and all!

  30. says

    G @ #42: Thanks.

Kel @ #38: I think you just blew my mind! I was operating under a combination of giving you the benefit of doubt and using Occam’s razor. I thought it is far more likely that you missed the word “in” than that you read the complete sentence in #6 and still wrote what you wrote in #36.

Now I see that it is not just that you read comment #6 correctly, but that you actually wrote it yourself!! This is so unbelievable that I feel a strong urge to assume your comment #36 is just trollish dicking around. The alternative is far more depressing. However, in light of the large readership of this blog, and the possibility that someone reading this may take your comments #36 and #38 at face value even if you didn’t mean it, I’m gonna proceed with the alternative.

Because if you were serious in #36, what you are actually saying is that in a statement that you yourself made saying that you find the thought of Roy fucking Coulter after D’Souza had (apparently obviously) fucked her horrifying, you don’t see how it can be misogynistic because D’Souza is a man. You could not even comprehend the thought that the misogyny being called out could be against Coulter!

Your comment could only be about D’Souza if the statement “I hate that bigot Bill O’Reilly from New York” could be about New York, i.e. in a semantic sense bereft of context.

I feel kind of embarrassed to connect the dots in such excruciating detail. But every once in a while some comment thread on pharyngula gives me reason to think that not all people committed to rational thought when it comes to religion automatically extend the thought process to other areas where it would yield a more progressive outlook.

I went to the link with the Harry smith interview but could not bring myself to actually watch it. I do not know if she is for real or not and do not care either way. There are people who agree with her completely I have met some, I am not one of them. She is making a good living I guess. I hope that she will use her “wealth” to by a nice monument fore her grave that matches her own image of herself and her self importance because that is the only way she will be remembered by history!

  32. says

Why is that hateful person given the time of the day. And please do not say she is “pundit” She speaks in soundbites- shrill nasty ones too. She has no opinion. Except unsubstantiated facts- which are demeaning to people with a different political bent. She is deliberately offensive, uses bad language and in general demeans anything she disagrees with. Why does the media tolerate her? She sounds like a raving lunatic- one of the FSTDT kind of cases. Did you hear her “single mother hood raises murderers rapists, strippers” how can someone who speaks like that be even listened to, much less taken seriously. And if that is conservative politics- that and that idiotic Rush Limbaugh, well really, how can even they pretend they need to be taken seriously. They are fanatics and bigoted. We do need ot spend our time on other things.

  33. says

Fucking hell arvind, you’ve missed the entire point. I’ll explain it quite simply>

Boyfriends and girlfriends have sex. PZ wrote this on his post “I’m a bit dismayed to learn that she is Roy Zimmerman’s girlfriend.” So from that I made a comment against D’Souza thinking that it was entirely obvious that it was a comment against D’Souza. Wowbagger got it, maybe it’s just our aussie humour.

Misogyny is defined as a hatred or contempt of women, my post did not have misogyny and I was very confused as to how you could think that. Has it gotten to the state that the very mention of sexual intercourse counts as a misogynistic comment? In case you didn’t know, the penis goes in the vagina. So to have sex with Ann Coulter after D’Souza is to go in after him.

#36 was just me trolling around because I couldn’t get how you would think what I said was misogynistic. It was a comment against D’Souza, I can not stress that enough.

  34. says

Has it gotten to the state that the very mention of sexual intercourse counts as a misogynistic comment?

Kel, of course not. You could express your disgust for Dinesh D’Souza by saying you wouldn’t take food from the same bowl he took from, or sit in a chair that he sat in before. But if you say you wouldn’t fuck the same woman he fucked because you dislike him, or pity the guy who has to fuck the same woman he fucked, that is pretty much a textbook case of objectifying the woman. At least, this is a very common standard by which I have seen misogyny evaluated by feminist bloggers, and I happen to agree with it. If not hatred, it does show contempt for women, even if you may not have realized it. And it was together with some of the comments from others that prompted my first response.

Any women readers of this post could of course correct me if I am reading this wrong. One correction I’d like to offer to my earlier comment is that I didn’t know Dinesh was her ex-boyfriend, and thought you were implying she would have fucked all the conservative pundits (hence the parenthetical ‘apparently obviously’). That was my bad, and those two words were unnecessary and incorrect.

  35. says

A big what the fuck?!? I by no means hate or have contempt for women, and my comment by no means was meant to show hate or contempt for women. It’s just insane that you can think that a comment about sex is underlined by an inner contempt for everyone in the gender.

Are you going to take my comment against D’Souza as an inner-contempt for people of Indian origin too?
