Video: Beau talks about a 10 year old, journalism, and misinformation


The overturning of Roe v Wade is having entirely predictable results. The current big headline is the 10 year old rape victim who had to leave her home state to get an abortion. It’s a horror story at every level, but I think it’s worth noting the response from assorted ghouls in politics and media. As usual, Beau says it well:

    Nitpick: the “centrist” outlet he’s referring to is the Washington Post, which is not centrist. It’s right-wing.

    Also, the rapist turned himself in. Nobody in Ohio cared if there was a (male) child-rapist around–they were too busy maligning a (female) 10-year-old victim. It happened because it’s happened throughout the history of people–blame the woman for her own rape or claim it was consensual, even if the “woman” is a small child. You have rightwing politcians that pop off with saying like pregnancy is the only thing a woman is good for.

    Otherwise, this is — as usual! — a brilliant Beau piece.

    If I might pick a mite on the nit, I think WaPo is centrist by U.S. standards, as compared to Fox on one side and MSNBC on the other. So yeah – they’re conservative, but they’re closer to being grounded in reality that the fash media

    I mean this with true respect to you; the Post is right-leaning, not centrist, and MSNBC is centrist, not left-leaning. By US standards, what you said is right, I do agree there.
