Thinkin About MAGAs

My day job requires having a modicum of compassion for everybody, no matter how vile.  I pull it off, tho in my day-to-day life, I don’t feel ’em.  But I had a conversation which lent me a moment of empathy.  Lady told me she heard a trumpista asked if she’d still support him if she personally witnessed him murdering a child and she said yes.  Well, maybe she was just fronting, and certainly you don’t know how you’ll feel about an extreme situation until you’re in it, but also, maybe it’s true,

And that got me thinking, one can base one’s world view on what feels true, to such an extent it can be hard to see things any other way.  We’re both doing that.  Lady watches orange man kill a dog, she thinks, dog must’ve done something wrong, because orange man sure can’t.  I watch jesus come out of the clouds and say it’s go time, I would assume I’m having a stroke.  Things that contradict our sense of reality get rationalized or ignored.  This we have in common, me and them.  I don’t speak for any of you here; I’m sure some of you would say otherwise, but it’s true of me.

That’s all I have to say today.

It’s hard to see what our blinkers are, I know some of mine, but surely not all of them. And some of those blinkers have been getting a hell of a lot of reinforcement lately, I mean I don’t have a high opinion of the Tories, but damn if they haven’t been trying to prove how it’s still too high. Makes it much harder to see them as people rather than caricatures.

I think somebody forgot to turn off Douglas Adams’s “Somebody Else’s Problem field” when they were done using it.

The last 10 years or so of history are inexplicable otherwise.

I do get it. Up until a few weeks ago I was expecting to vote for Joe Biden, even after I knew he was enthusiastically shipping MORE weapons to Netanyahu (may he get pancreatic cancer) to bomb more hospitals, women, and children.
Now, I am crossing my fingers hoping that Harris is a bit more nuanced about the whole ‘our friends vs. our enemies’ thing, but I don’t expect much. Nevertheless, (*censored*) Stump is orders of magnitude worse on every point, so I have to vote against him.

*censored by GAS for ableism and ageism, don’t take it hard.

Netanyahu has graduated to committing bin Laden style terrorism now, what with the random planted bombs exploding in crowds and maiming civilians in Lebanon.

At what point does the world start treating Israel as a rogue state in the same short list as North Korea and Iran? I mean, bin Laden’s antics eventually got the US to invade Afghanistan and send assassins into Pakistan after him. No sign of any similar response to Netanyahu so far …
