Just a reminder–here in the US, it is national Poem in your Pocket day. You should all print out your favorite sepielle, or something to annoy your co-workers with, and carry it around just in case.
If any of you run into me today, this is what I’ll recite to you.

But as the old saw has it: “A poem in the head is worth two in the pocket”!
Dave, ex-Kwisatz Haderach says
Do I have to carry it in my pocket if I’ve already got it memorized?
Twas brilling and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimbal in the wabe…

I’d have sworn I posted on this thread a couple of hours ago! Nutz.
Like the first two comments, I’ve got one in my head. “Cat” by J.R.R. Tolkien. “The fat cat on the mat may seem to dream, of nice mice that suffice….”
My own contribution:
I think that I shall never see,
A poem I hate more than “Trees”.
I didn’t read it when assigned,
So got an “F”, which blew my mind.
It ne’er occurred to teanage me,
That “Kilmer, Joyce” was not a she.
Oh, poems are made by fools like he,
But I can’t make this last line work.

You *did*, Treb–I have no idea what happened to it, or to three other comments that used to be here! Some sort of software glitch, cos I sure as hell didn’t delete them!
Callinectes says
I wish I was a better bard,
This writing lark is really hard.
I’ll try and try all day and night,
Until I get this poem right.
Balls of paper scatter the floor,
Piled so high, they’re blocking the door!
The sun’s gone down, there’s no more light,
I still can’t get this poem right.

Cuttlefish, the comments appear to have transferred to the 2011 thread you have linked.

@6: I bet I just posted it there in the first place!
