Strategic vision

There are millions of Muslim and/or Arabic immigrants in the West, in both Europe and America. The ones that have embraced their new homes are not interested in joining ISIS or going on any suicide mission, with the key phrase being “new home.” Those that feel welcome, comfortable, and accepted in the West, are poor candidates for ISIS recruiting.

ISIS knows this, which is why their strategy is based on trying to drive a deep wedge between Westerners and the Muslim citizens of Western nations. Those who dismiss suicidal terrorist attacks as “self-defeating,” and who advocate retaliation against Muslims and Arabs, are an important part of ISIS’s hope for future recruiting within the borders of our various homelands.

Dr. Ben Carson, come on down.

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson said Friday that in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris, the United States should block refugees from the Middle East from coming to the United States…

“I would be working with our allies using every resource known to man in terms of economic resources, in terms of covert resources, overt resources, military resources, things that they don’t know about — resources,” he said. “In an attempt not to contain them but to eliminate them before they eliminate us. We have to recognize that the global Islamic movement is an existential threat — it’s very different than anything we’ve ever faced before.” [Emph. added.]

It’s just like Jesus used to say, “If any man smite thee on thy right cheek, eliminate him, his family, his neighbors, and anyone who shares his religious views, before they eliminate thee.”

This black-and-white, all-or-nothing mentality is exactly the world view shared by ISIS and other extremist groups. If enough Westerners embrace Carson’s views, and aren’t too picky about who they include as part of “the global Islamic movement,” and start working to “eliminate” everybody who might pose some kind of surreptitious Muslim threat, the comfortable millions of Muslims will become uncomfortable, fearful, and vulnerable. Ideal candidates for ISIS recruiting, in other words.

Nothing could be more devastating to ISIS plans than for the West to embrace its peace-loving Muslim citizens and join with them in denouncing this kind of racist, divisive, violent evil. Well, one thing, maybe: if the West could also find some way to scale back its relentless aggression and exploitation of the Middle East. But Carson’s plan to demonize all Middle Eastern refugees, and his implication that worldwide Islam is an “existential” threat to the West, does not bode well for the cause of peace.

It’s going to make great copy for those Internet recruiting ads though.

Or adopt solar power, wind power, thorium reactors, hydrogen fusion reactors or other alternative and generally superior energy sources instead.

So many possible choices and good reason to shift away from fossils fuels and make the world better anyhow.

And then, there will be a bunch of americans who don’t need diabetes drugs or other drugs because they maintained a healthy body weight? the agony. the injustice.

The Da’esh terrorists want us to fear and hate so much we lose our minds. They want to use their mass murdering crimes to manipulate our emotions into creating more of what they want – horrors and deaths and destruction. We should not oblige them.

I think we should make this

    Pledge against Da’esh :

You want us to be afraid? We will not be afraid.

You want us to hate? We will not hate.

You want us divided? We will unite more than ever.

You want us to attack and blame the wrong people who have no link to you other than fleeing your evil? We refuse to do so.

You want us to call you “Islamic state” and see you as “warrior” enemies? We will call you by the name you like least and think of you as what you are; vile criminal douchebags with delusions of grandeur.

You want to be taken seriously by committing all your murders and atrocities? We will defeat you with the ridicule and disdain and contempt you deserve and live our lives as we always have despite yo

You have taken some lives but you cannot take our freedoms or our nature or our joie de vivre.

To all your cruel and brutal of your carnage against innocents, we will respond with cool and firm determination against you and warm compassion and defiant aid to all those you seek to harm.

This we pledge. And we shall prevail. Because united we stand and love wins.

PS rather than your lofty sentiments, here is the actual reality:
France launches ‘massive’ airstrike on Isis stronghold of Raqqa

TLDR: get mad and get even. My pullquote:

In the aftermath of the attacks on Paris, the French president, François Hollande, said terrorists strikes were an “act of war” on France, “organised and planned from the outside”.

He said the attackers wanted “to scare us and fill us with dread”, but warned France’s retribution would be swift and unflinching.

“We are going to lead a war which will be pitiless. Because when terrorists are capable of committing such atrocities they must be certain that they are facing a determined France, a united France, a France that is together and does not let itself be moved, even if today we express infinite sorrow.”

Surely only (evil) combatants were injured or killed by this retribution.

Down here where I live, if someone attacks me, I hit back as hard as I can until the attacker runs away. It’s only happened twice, but it’s worked both times.

But if someone from a different neighbourhood attacks you, do you then attack that neighbourhood a few days later?
