Ganesh Pyne died yesterday. He was one of my favourite artists. Some say his art was dark. Some say he was influenced by Rembrandt, Ingmar Bergman. I do not think his paintings are dark or he was influenced by other artists. I think nature, life, death, reality, imagination encouraged him to create. He painted what he saw, what he touched and what he felt. I could have met him when I was living in Kolkata. But I never feel the urge to meet great writers or artists whose work I love very much. And it never comes to my mind that they will die someday. As if they will live forever. It is true that they die. but their arts survive much longer.
Ganesh Pyne is a Bengali artist. But I can share his arts with people in the world. Everybody understands the language of arts like everybody understands the language of hearts.
Those are beautiful – thank you for sharing.
they remind me a lot of frida kahlo—i like it—thanx 4 sharing
These are so inspiring!
I read in one of your books that once, when you had to hide in one of your friends’ house in Bangladesh because the islamic fundamentalists were after you, you had tried painting and it came naturally to you. Do you still paint, and if so, will you share with your admirers?
Loveable paintings as human hearts as in reality.I extend my best homage to the departed artist.
Some very good art here. But all artists are influenced by other artists! its not a crime. Personally, I see some resemblances to Paul Klee in there.
Hope I could be an artist. Everybody understands the language of arts like everybody understands the language of hearts.
May his soul rests in divine peace.
