In case you were wondering why Vox Day is trolling the heck out of John Scalzi (other than the known fact that Vox is a hateful human being who trolls in the same way he takes a dump: regularly and pungently), all is now made clear.
Scalzi is the current president of the Science Fiction Writers of America. Theodore Beale aka Vox Day is now running for office. He’s got to make himself known to the voting public, and since his sole talent is to be an embarrassing sphincter, he’s going with his strengths.
By the way, that link will take you to Jim Hines blog, who does a marvelous job of documenting Vox Day’s revolting ideas.

Oh dear, and I thought “vote carefully or you’ll get aburt” was a dire enough warning.

Sheesh… It’s not like the *public* gets to vote for SFWA president.

Calling Vox Day VD seems vaguely unfair to spirochetes. And Scalzi versus VD…it’s not even really a Bambi versus Godzilla situation. More of a small cockroach versus Godzilla situation: VD’s so badly outclassed it’s pathetic. Even more pathetic is the fact that VD will never realize it. Glad Scalzi came up with a way to make some good come out of the situation anyway.

Perhaps he’s a shoo-in for the L. Ron Hubbard sci-fi prize for most prolific author suffering from verbal diarreah. I imagine anything Vox produced would read like a “Gor” novel written by Hubbard while he was sick at sea.

I doubt it’s that good, actually.

How anybody manages to discuss the guy without linking to this worth-a-thousand-worder is beyond me.

When your Great Big Sword is on fire like that, it’s usually a fungal infection. Hmmm…. Is that the origin of the expression “flaming asshole”?

Vox Day’s “work” is discussed in the comments on the Jim C. Hines link. Some kind of Christian dystopic fantasy, from what I could gather, co-written with one or more other people.
I was frankly surprised to learn he was a member. It kind of makes his obsession with John Scalzi a little less random.

I know who RSHD reminds me of now: The Monarch, insisting to Dr. Venture that he is his Nemesis. (Except the Monarch is kind of adorably dopy in his desperation and the RSHD is not.)

someone out there published, at a cost, something VD wrote? And someone somewhere bought it?
O.o
This sort of raises the question though: does this mean Left Behind is in fact NOT the world’s worst book?

HA ha!
The Guardian picked up this story–and they don’t name Beale! He’s just referred to as “one particular individual.” :D

They’re trying not to feed the troll! FOR SCIENCE!
…Wwwwwell, Left Behind in any case isn’t the worst theoretically possible book. Imagine Left Behind written in the style of The Eye of Argon.
Or, y’know, rather don’t.

Vox Day is truly a Fractal OmniDouche. There is no area, and no level, which, upon further examination, he is not a colossal arsehat.
I defy anyone to find one single redeemable feature for the excrescence.

On further consideration, though I am fond of the pun, it can still be said to be douchy and arsehattish. I suspect it is not at all tounge-in-cheek, or not very.
