Friday Cephalopod: Home

I am actually staying home for several weeks, and it feels so good and relaxing. So this is kind of a self-portrait, I think.

It does rather look like you. Please don’t be inspired by how short-lived they are. I am very fond of the old piranha tank and would hate to see it melt, thaw, and resolve itself into a dew.

(Sorry, was watching Tennet’s version of Hamlet this morning.)

I think I should finally say this, PZ: with all your adorable pictures sea creatures, you’ve made me stop eating sushi and seafood pizza, which I loved. So thank you very much, I hope you’re happy…

There, but for the suction cups, many more appendages, beak, eyes with an entirely different origin, and boneless body, go I and you.

Maybe not the best simile, on second thought.

    Staying home?
    Or stepping out in style?

It’s a trap! Those look suspiciously like the kind of pots Mediterranean fishermen use to catch octopusseseseses for the table.

Welcome to your new home, little ceph. Courtesy of your friendly, neighborhood humans.

We do tend to leave a lot of cast offs along the trail, don’t we?

    Hey PZ!

The advert for the new BBC biology show with Dr. Brian Cox features tentacley things! Oh, and a familiar song by Eric Idle…
