In the waters off Papua New Guinea
Gerald M Dollar went swimming;
At the bottom of Milne Bay he did see
A cuttlefish…errm, a cuttlefish…umpty-tumpty-imming.
Hey, don’t look at me that way. I thought all cuttlefish posts were supposed to be poems. It’s not my fault I suck at it.

And the most recent post at the Cuttleblog is, for once, not in verse.

So PZ is warning Cuttlefish to avoid prose and stick to poetry otherwise PZ will invade his domain and wax poetic then?

Actually, yes…it is your fault that you suck at rhyme. Perhaps you should stick to science and fighting superstition next time.
At least you admit that it’s bad since it’s obvious that there is a lot of improvement to be had. Unlike the religous who think that their ramblings are intellectually delicious whose self-delusion is just sad.

Just call it “free verse”, and you’re set!
Though you still couldn’t rhyme on a bet–
Well, unless you are me,
In which case, the word “free”
Will refer to the payment you get.

Read it out with a wild-eyed intensity. Then you can claim that you’re a slam poet.

The cuttlefish is about as much amused as it is cuddly.

Nah, just write some oddly resonant prose, read it to the backing of some soft snare drums, and claim you’re a beat poet.

“umpty-tumpty-imming”…you’re channeling Bertram Wooster, I believe.
