Georgia supreme court reinstates six-week abortion ban

Last week I posted about the ruling by a Georgia superior court judge who said that the Georgia law that bans women from getting an abortion after six weeks, which is so early in the pregnancy that many women will not even know they are pregnant, was unconstitutional. His ruling meant that abortions could be done until fetal viability, which is around 22 weeks.

Sadly, the Georgia supreme court has just overturned that ruling, thus re-instating the six-week ban.

Recall that Georgia is the state where two women Amber Nicole Thurman and Candi Miller recently died because they were unable to obtain timely abortions. More women are going to die because of this new development.

That is not all. In Florida, the state is threatening criminal prosecutions for media outlets that are playing ads in support of that state’s abortion rights Amendment 4 that is up for a vote on November 5th.

women can get abortions — if they get two doctors in writing to say so

Florida’s three remaining gynaecologists now make sure they are never on holiday at the same time.

It is good these regressive taliban activists show their hand before the election.

I hope those that didn’t bother turning up to vote Biden, or worse -- ‘protest voted’ for Trump -- are proud of themselves.

banning abortion for women who medically need one is is inhumane. (should the 8th amendment be relevant?)

you don’t save the fetus and you KILL the mother.

murder charges should be filed against the georgia supreme court.

Alabama supreme court also issured a horrible ruling: a “wrongful death” lawsuit against an IVF clinic may proceed, becase the clinic had some embryos die.

You think these are worth taking to SCOTUS? *They* just allowed Texas’ ban on emergency abortions for dying women to stand.

So, maybe not. But, it would make quite clear that they’re gunning for a national abortion ban, though sadly, as biggerj.@ 2 notes, not in time for this election.

Would help later, though, by getting more popular approval of getting more than nine justices or limited terms or both onto SCOTUS.
