Doug Jones beats Roy Moore in Alabama

In what has to be considered a huge upset, Democrat Doug Jones has just been projected to be the winner in the Alabama senate race, defeating sex abuser and molester of teens Roy Moore by a margin of 49.5 to 48.7% with 91% of precincts reporting, in one of the Republican party’s strongest of strongholds.

I am off to bed feeling great and will discuss what this might mean tomorrow.

Yeah… I just read that! I get news alerts sometimes and for the most part they annoy me, but I was pretty happy to read this one. Apparently it’s considered a pretty strong win. Nice to have a little good news for a change.

Many groups who send me email claim Jones won. Has Republican/Conservative/Christian hypocrisy finally peaked?

That bar was so low it was practically set into the concrete floor, but congrats Alabama for getting over it. I didn’t know you had it in you.

I am embarrassed to see that only 25% of white men voted for Jones. That means 3/4 of them were able to look at that horrible garbage human and vote for him instead of any alternative with a functioning metabolism. White women of Alabama? You’ve confirmed many of the worst stereotypes about you.

Black women, on the other hand, stepped up and demonstrated that they know what the fuck is going on and they do not like it. I salute them.

Moore is probably going to try something -- he has not given up, yet. At this point, I hope someone just guns him down like a rabid dog and saves us having to hear from him again.

Let’s not have exhortations to violence and murder. Even when hyperbolic. Even for scumstains like Moore. Even for clickz and lulz. People die, and not necessarily the target of the hyperbole.

Roy will have plenty of time now to stalk teen girls at the mall (those he isn’t banned from, at least).

In 2016 conservatives on Twitter were all “He won! Get over it!”

In 2017 conservatives on Twitter are all “The Dems rigged it! Voter fraud!”

You’d think a party as good at rigging elections as RWNJs claim the Democratic Party is wouldn’t be in the minority in congress and the senate and Hillary Clinton would be president.

Most of us do not endorse even insinuations of violence in political discourse (think Palin’s crosshairs over political opponents, ‘second amendment solution’ etc.), let alone open calls for murder.

Marcus @8: Indeed, I am not your liberal. I’m just a small-time FTB lurker who was gob-smacked to see a revered FTB author and venerable commenter saying what you said.

I just hope that someone guns him down like a rabid dog

You asked “why not” in respect of your hoping loudly and out-loud for someone to be murdered? Why not?
No, I’m not going to derail the thread by explaining dismay at exhortations to violence, no matter how deserving the target. Feel free to exercise your free-speech rights and explain your hyperbolic exhortation if you wish: you started it.
