Libby Anne lays down the law

Here at Freethoughtblogs, there is no uniform commenting policy — each of us sets our own. Libby Ann has set down her rules, and they’re rather more soft and conciliatory towards religious apologists than mine are (you know mine: a theist shows up here, it’s like ringing the dinner bell, and my only concern is that you don’t leave a mess on the carpets)—and that’s OK! Respect them while you visit.

If you’re slavering with fury over some bit of ditzy apologia at another blog, you’re instead welcome to take advantage of an open thread here and snarl away at them. It’s exactly the kind of thing I encourage.

Somebody won the Superbowl!

I’m celebrating that it’s over. Yay!

Post-game chatter about the game, the half-time event, the commercials, all go here. I’ll stay out of it, not knowing anything about it.

I guess the biggest news about the football game was Madonna’s performance at the half-time. Here it is.

It was cheesy, overblown, grandiose pop. She delivered exactly what was expected of her, competently and with talent. I don’t quite understand all the hating that’s been going on — is it just that women over 40 are always going to get slammed for not being women under 20?

Octopus escapes! Everyone cheer!


We caught this Octopus in a shrimp trap here in Alaska. It had crawled in through a 3 inch opening and terrorized our catch of spot prawns, killing and eating several of them, and then, attached itself to the bait jar and unscrewed the lid to open for dessert of prepared shrimp bait pellets! We decided to let this brilliant creature go (option was to eat it! …yum!) as I respected it’s intelligence and genius. We set it on the deck and let it “escape” on it’s own… Cool fun with a sea creature!
