I wonder what it would look like under UV light. I recall that scorpions are pretty fancy that way. Are spiders?
I have one of those newfangled portable blacklights (Don’t get one! Your house is filled with crime scenes, trust me!) and the few times I’ve lit up some common house spiders, I’ve seen nothing of note in the fluorescence department. Sad face.
The bold jumper is probably my favorite spider. I remember, ages ago when I was working at a summer camp in the Blue Ridge Mountains, one with lovely iridescent green chelicerae that hitched a ride on me. I watched it hop about amongst the hairs on my forearm as I walked to the dining hall, where I placed it on a bit of shrubbery before going in for lunch.
