That put the fear of God into me

This government is clearly planning to put boots on the ground in Iran. They’re declaring that it is Jesus/Trump’s will to launch Armageddon now.

A combat-unit commander told non-commissioned officers at a briefing Monday that the Iran war is part of God’s plan and that Pres. Donald Trump was “anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth,” according to a complaint by a non-commissioned officer.

From Saturday morning through Monday night, more than 110 similar complaints about commanders in every branch of the military had been logged by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF).

The complaints came from more than 40 different units spread across at least 30 military installations, the MRFF told me Monday night.

When our military leaders start using apocalyptic language at the start of a war, worry.

“This morning our commander opened up the combat readiness status briefing by urging us to not be “afraid” as to what is happening with our combat operations in Iran right now. He urged us to tell our troops that this was “all part of God’s divine plan” and he specifically referenced numerous citations out of the Book of Revelation referring to Armageddon and the imminent return of Jesus Christ. He said that “President Trump has been anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth.”

Let’s hope that this doesn’t happen and that we aren’t sifting through the ashes looking for something to eat next week. And if it doesn’t happen, every single one of these goddamn bible-thumping murderous commanders must be dismissed and drummed out of the military in disgrace.

While we’re at it, can we also get the names of all the White House personnel who are currently lining up to put inside bets on the date of the invasion on Polymarket? They need to be jailed or executed, too.

This behavior and/or belief is standard for Republicans. Remember James Watt (Interior Secretary under Ronald Fucking Reagan) who pushed the “Wise Use” idea to use up the environment before the end of the world, which was per Watt close at hand.

Every stressful moment causes this sort of craziness to start leaking out. Remember 9/11? People who claim that the establishment/general public aren’t THAT crazy need to pay attention!

Annoying shortage of details. Was this a company commander, a brigade commander, or what? How many independent events are represented by these 200 complaints? How far up the chain of command does this go? I mean, it clearly is represented at the top, i.e. the “Secretary of War”, but one can hope it’s not ubiquitous below that.

IMO, a land war invasion of Iran would be very dumb and might well end the Trump reign of terror.

Iran is a large country with a large population at 93 million.
The general rule is that an attacking army needs to have 3 times as much military power as the defenders. This is because an invasion favors the defenders.
Ask the Russians and Ukrainians how that works.

We fought the North Vietnamese in Asia in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The population of North Vietnam at that time was around 20 million. We had a population of 200 million and a much larger economy.
    And, we lost.

This isn’t anything hard to figure out.
We lost in Vietnam because the Vietnamese didn’t have anywhere else to go.
They lived there and it isn’t like they could just retreat or go home and take a break.
The US on the other hand, always had the option of getting on a plane and flying from Saigon to California or Hawaii. Which is what we ended up doing.

    Many sites are reporting this:

Without any clear message coming from the White House with regard to the purpose of the Iran war, U.S. military commanders have turned to Jesus, apparently telling American troops that the war is “biblically sanctioned.”

Monday evening, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, or MRFF, was “inundated” with complaints, receiving more than 110 grievances from U.S. military personnel stationed at dozens of sites across the Middle East, reported independent journalist Jonathan Larsen.

Hegseth has parroted the views of Douglas Wilson, a conservative theologian who advocated for Christian dominance over government and society. He has followed through in practice, instating regular prayer services at America’s military headquarters. He also entered office with several Christian symbols already emblazoned on his skin—a Jerusalem cross and the phrase “Deus vult”—in what Hegseth has described as emblems of the “modern-day American Christian crusade.”

Whenever we have one of these wars, I always get nervous and it brings back bad memories.

I knew people killed in Vietnam.
One was my friend’s father. Her mother was pregnant at the time.

Two of my friends were killed in Iraq.
    They are still dead.

So, who do I know who will be killed in this war?
At this point, it probably won’t be anyone I personally know.
We are now working on killing our children and grandchildren.

One final comment: according to these xtian terrorist aholes, jebus is advocating mass murder and destroying the hellhole of a planet these xtian terrorists have created. That just reinforces that I wouldn’t want to have anything to do with any of these xtian death cults.
