At risk of breaking an overly sensitive irony meter I’m not quite as pedantic and usually defending other commenters.

Hemidactylus (I know the critter, I know it lexically is ‘half-fingered’), no prob.
I am weird. And not afraid of it. Compared to the likes of you, anyway.

Re: “I’m not quite as pedantic and usually defending other commenters.”
I get it; you admit you are “not quite as pedantic” and claim you “usually defend other commenters.”
One of those is evident.
Me, I either defend or critique other commenter’s claims and stances depending on merit.
No particular preference, I just like to contribute info and truth, and to call out pomp and bullshit.
The sort of personal thingy you and others have going, not so much for me.
I generally critique claims and stances and suppositions and untruths and so forth, not personalities or imputed motives or moral character, unless I am echoing others’ claims.
This personal shit is for other people.
I note that, unlike Robro, who showed some self-confidence by conceding the obvious, you became indignant.
(Kicking against the prick; what a hobby!)

A reflex? An obsession? Some kinda tic disorder? It genuinely never occurred to me that it might be partly/largely/entirely involuntary, but that would make a TON of sense. Such a long term and clearly mal-adaptive behavior and so strongly resistant to any sort of persuasion be it rational, emotional, self interested, whatever, too. How many posts a day on average? How much does it interfere in otherwise normal life? I’m no medical anything past first aider, but these are among some of the very obvious should this behavior be clinically treated or not type questions surely.
It has never occurred to me before today to feel sorry for the thread jacking time waster in vampiric chief, but maybe. Just maybe.
