And just think: It’s all because stupid White people let themselves get jerked around by preachers and politicians to take their money by exploiting their ginned up notion of race. The whole “modern” White Christian Nationalist/Evangelical/MAGA movement dates right back to when the Supreme Court ordered the desegregation of public schools, then the desegregation of public faciilties, and then the desegregation of church schools who received Federal money. Preachers and politicians tapped into the “White resentment” that was palpable in the South when I was a kid in the 50s/60s.

I haven’t searched out a youtube link for this, but heard on the news Kristi Noem justifying the Minnesota raids and demands for papers and whatnot as quite legal and proper, and then literally describing the persons so approached, as “criminals.” Of course one can presume it’s a slip of the tongue or the whistle, and Noem is notoriously sloppy in thought and speech, but still, according to her official word, we’re all criminals by default.
I’m a resident of the Twin Cities and the civil rights violations of Gravel-pit Barbie’s gang of maga thugs are being well documented. The flip side of Minnesota Nice is MN passive- aggressive.
MN has had very mild winter temperatures in the last few weeks (by our standards), with daily highs right around 30 degrees / just below freezing. That ended today, and we are going sub-zero with single digit highs and nuisance snow. Water is now a weapon against ICE. Protesters are simply pouring water on the ground, and I’m sure that some agents are going to learn just how quickly frostbite happens when you get wet.

There are reports of ICE-holes stealing cellphones of the protesters that they detain.
So: if you’re going to a protest:
1. Get a burner phone.
2. Put the burner phone # on your regular phone, but leave your regular phone at home. Make sure no-one else has your burner phone #.
3. Program the ring-tone of the burner phone to be maximum volume gunshot sounds.
If ICE steals your burner phone, when you get released have all your friends call the burner phone.
Hilarity ensues? One can but hope.

Hard disagree. Modern cellular phones are all-purpose tracking devices. You don’t bring a tracking device with you unless you want law enforcement to follow you around.
If you’re going to a protest:
1.) Don’t bring a phone.
2.) Bring a video recording device that isn’t hooked up to the POTS.
3.) Work out a protocol of low-tech communcation with friends and family ahead of time. Give explicit instructions for what they should do and where they should be if they don’t hear back from you for a specified period of time.
