Poor Martyn Iles

Martyn Iles lost his status as Ken Ham’s successor at Answers in Genesis (there’s a story there, I’m sure, but no one is talking), and now he’s an immigrant wandering loose in the United States, which is definitely not a good position to be in. Normally, I’d be sympathetic, but Martyn Iles? The Young Earth Creationist and far right kook? Nah. Deport him.

Prayer request: | need a new visa for the USA so | can come and go freely for our new project.
The lawyer recommends going for an O-1 visa, but it’s a high bar.
I’ll need some senior political and church figures to help me out with letters that verify my past activities… essentially to confirm that | have been a national leader in political, legal and grassroots advocacy work. And trust nobody who really hates my beliefs ends up with the application on their desk.
But once it’s granted, it’s a very good visa, and very durable.
So… Pray everyone is suddenly overtaken by a desire to do me just a small favour

OK, I’ll be generous: everyone can give him all the prayers he might want. I don’t know what his “new project” is, but I’m sure it’s garbage pandering to ignorance.

“national leader in political, legal and grassroots advocacy work.”
Working at a road-side tourist trap doesn’t count. What else you got?

  2. says

Why doesn’t he just pray for God to forge him visa papers and the accompanying records in a governmental database?

  3. says

Deport that moocher. We don’t need him — there’s plenty of US citizens who are perfectly capable of making shit up and spouting bullshit, lies and insanity on command; so we don’t need to bring more people from shithole countries to take AMERICAN jobs. Our country is full, remember?

@4 Do we really have to take him back? He seems so much happier there. If he comes back home, people are going to ask him uncomfortable questions about creationism. Like, was god high when he made the platypus? Why weren’t there any kangaroos on the ark? Are you a fucking moron?

Having a valid visa, or even a green card, is no protection against deportation anymore, not since January 20. The only truly safe guarantees against deportation now are a full-blown citizenship, or else being white and holding political and religious positions that are viewed sympathetically by the right w– Ah, crap!

I don’t recall ever having heard of Iles, but the “trust nobody who really hates my beliefs ends up with the application on their desk” tells enough. Playing the victim card before the game’s even started.

PZ has blogged about him before among other things noting the apt anagram of his name & from the ‘Who Will Replace Ken (not the astronaut) Ham post scoll down here :

    https://freethoughtblogs.com/pharyngula/?s=Martyn+Iles

Apparently, Ken has been recruiting back in the homeland of Australia, and he has landed a real winner: Martyn Iles. He’s perfect. He’s young. He’s loud. He’s a confirmed hater: he doesn’t want anything to do with the gays or the transes, he despises the idea of climate change, he hates commies. He’s a cerfiable culture warror, and his ideology lines up nicely with Ken Ham’s. And now he’s been hired as Chief Ministry Officer for Answers in Genesis. Also interesting: he was formerly the Managing Director of the Australian Christian Lobby, but he was kicked out. The apparent cause was that the ACL, under his leadership, was flopping badly. Australians kept passing those danged liberal laws anyway. He was ineffective and obnoxious.

So guess he’s going tobe be tired by the MuskTrump regime soon – he’ll fit right in there.

Sadly, they’re still around and bigoted AF natch.

Also this summary of him here :

The Australian Christian Lobby describes itself as seeking “to bring a Christian influence to politics.”

However, that could only be true if the Christian Bible was just thousands of words dissing the LGBTQIA+ communities. Because that is the true focus of the Australian Christian Lobby. As Christine Milne, then leader of the Australian Greens, said in 2012, the ACL’s “whole focus is to attack the gay community.”

    …(Sub-heading snipped – ed) ..

Former Australian Senator Brian Greig posted to Facebook, “Truth is [Martyn Iles] was sacked for turning the ACL into a personality cult around him, cutting other ppl out, stealing the limelight and hyper-controlling all communications.”

Poor Martyn Iles? He’s not poor enough yet if you ask me!

  8. Scott Simmons says

I will gladly pray for his success in this endeavor, as long as he promises not to ask me for any other kinds of support. I might even throw in some thoughts with my prayers.

    @Owosso #12:

    Why not deport him, too?

He can travel home by sea rather than air, purely to save money. Three bucks should be enough for some water wings.

  10. says

We could always pray that his new project is drilling holes in the Hamster’s giant boat.

Again, why let immigrants do makework projects? That boat was never seaworthy to begin with.

The typography of this site makes “Iles” and “lies” look alike. I misread it at first, corrected myself and then realized it didn’t make a difference anyway.

Even though I’m an atheist, I would be happy to pray for the Trump administration to send him to a gulag in El Salvador with no due process. That’s the best I can do.
