I remember some years ago when the idea of atheism + first was mentioned. And a lot of angry, infantile atheists got very perturbed by the concept. I was deeply depressed by the lack of thoughtfulness on the part of these angry neckbeards.
So, looks like thsi is gonna be on at about 5 a.m. my time.. Sigh.

Regarding atheism plus – in the absence of gods putting things right, it is even more important that prople are civic-minded and look after each other; the opposite of libertarian thinking.

Always figured those people came to atheism from reading Ayn Rand than from more progressive, egalitarian non-believers. For them, it’s not at all about the scientific and philosophical absurdity of deity, but their toxically individualistic “no one tells ME what to do” ethos–if you want to call it an ethos.
Furthermore, if any nonbeliever fits the fundamentalist stereotype of the common atheist, i.e. the defiant reprobate who rejects the existence of the Christian Gawd as a means to justify their immoral behavior, it’s the anti-SJW clods.
@5– One of the delights from a few years a back was seeing all those awful prosperity-gospel fundamentalists extolling the philosophical brilliance of Ayn Rand only to see them mentally melt down when it was pointed out to them that Rand was belligerently atheist.
i figured while i was gussied up to podcast, i’d do a short reading of some of my fiction. enjoy my low-effort content or the intrallectural dork web wins.
