West hired Milo Yiannopoulos as campaign manager (yep, Ye is running for president), and then fired him.
Mike Lindell was suing election boards all over the country, and his latest efforts got smacked down hard, including a demand that he pay all court costs. He has flushed millions down the crapper.
The only person whose star is rising is Andrew Anglin, rabid neo-Nazi, publisher of the Daily Stormer, who has been allowed back on Twitter, where he promptly endorsed Kanye West.

I wish people would stop conflating “being awful” with mental illness. They’re just being awful because they can get away with it and are even rewarded for it. The US mental health care system is indeed a mess, but this isn’t a sign of it. Not even the best mental health system can “cure” people of doing what they get rewarded for doing.
If anything needs curing, it’s a society which thinks badly-behaved rich people are admirable.
Ye genuinely does have mental health problems, but he’s wealthy and can afford the best help if he chooses so the state of the American mental healthcare system doesn’t affect this at all.
The republican nominating process is going to be possibly the biggest shit-show since the Directoire in Paris. Or, perhaps, the battle of Hattin. Remember Winston Churchill’s quip, “it’s a pity they can’t both lose”? Well, they can. We’ll have punch-drunk fascists staggering around the political scene for years.
Wait for Milo Y to try to troll Ye, and maybe suck the whole amateur fascist wing in to a running war with the professional fascist wing. That’s my bet for where the action rolls, next.
One of my friends pointed out last night that Britney Spears didn’t go nearly this far during her breakdown before she was stuck in a conservatorship. The fact that nothing’s being done about Ye indicates a profound double standard.
On the Elon Musk video, I am one of those people who had convinced myself that Musk must have some secret grand scheme to make a lot of money out of his debacle. While I always knew he could just be a bumbling incompetent, Thought Slime’s summary of the saga convinced me that’s the most likely explanation.
We have too many people like Musk, Ye, Chump, and so forth who are in positions of power and public influence.

I did not know being a model was any sort of ethnicity, and I’m glad that his maternal Grandfather, Joshua Haldeman, left Minnesota for Canada.
I’m sure Elon is German/Dutch as far as ethnicity, and he bears a striking resemblance to that Grandfather. No idea where the rather common trait of ‘Asian’ eyes come from, but the Huns did enslave and rule over the eastern Goths for 70 years, before being absorbed into the Eastern European gene pool. Admixture between Asian and Europe has been ongoing since the Bronze Age.
I didn’t follow the Spears drama all that closely but wasn’t it her father who put her in a conservatorship? If so, that could mean Ye, unlike Spears, has no one left who truly cares for his wellbeing.
Okay, let’s open a book on how soon it will be before Anglin et al. use their support of Ye for President as proof positive they aren’t racist?

Not at all. It’s become so fashionable for historians to grossly overuse the historic present when talking about events that happened centuries ago that I’d actually expect: “Saladin is massing his forces to attack the Crusader states…” This affectation*, which is often actually confusing when the speaker wants to compare past and present events, is so irritating and so widespread that I can scarcely watch or listen to historical broadcasts or podcasts.
*I think the message is twofold: “I’m a professional historian, and the past is just so real to me”, combined with “You plebs couldn’t possibly be interested in the past for its own sake, so I have to pretend this event is happening now”.
So, it’s almost two years til US presidential election and one of the candidates is warming up by throwing birther style conspiracy theories at random people who piss him off. Props for constructing a “Your mom” insult that literally says “Your mom must’ve been a supermodel”.
