First they come for Milo, now they’ve come for Amos

The alt-right just loves those yahoo edgelords who push the boundaries well beyond civilized behavior, but there are limits. Milo Yiannopoulos flamed out when started babbling about how pedophilia wasn’t really that bad; then there’s this one strange fellow who was briefly embraced by right-wingers, Amos Yee (Mythicist Milwaukee tried to bring him to their ugly conference, before they woke up to his brand of flaming). Yee was openly advocating for sex with small children, even talking about sexual acts with infants; he was quite clear that he thought children would be capable of consent even when an adult is pressuring them or lying to them about sex. People like Sargon of Akkad and Count Dankula — you know, just those names ought to clue you in that these are ridiculous clowns — were supporting him. He was just trolling, you know, which makes it OK.

But now Yee has been arrested. I guess he pushed beyond just trolling.

A blogger from Singapore who was granted asylum to stay in the U.S. faces child pornography charges, according to prosecutors.

Amos Yee appeared Friday in court in Chicago on solicitation and possession of child pornography, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. He was being held on $1 million bail.

If the 20-year-old is convicted, he could lose his asylum status. He was taken into custody Thursday at his Chicago home.

In 2016, Yee was detained at O’Hare International Airport after fleeing Singapore. His online posts mocking and criticizing the Singapore government twice landed him in jail. He was granted asylum i n September 2017.

Prosecutors alleged he exchanged messages with a 14-year-old Texas girl last year that included nude photos. He also allegedly used his now-defunct YouTube channel to advocate for pedophilia, according to prosecutors.

Goodbye, Yee. Please drag down some more of those other wingnut trolls with you.

Oh god I remember that guy. He was the hard core Trumpie from Singapore. If I remember right he had a pretty hard core NAZI memorabilia collection. Lot of red flags there.

Count Dankula is one of Alex Jones’ toadies. I wonder how Dank’s patron, who can’t go five minutes without accusing a public figure with Satanic child-rape, would say about his beneficiary’s association with Yee.

From personal experience, I can tell you that the people who most loudly fantasize about doing violence to “pedos” are, in fact, child abusers. They haven’t necessarily engaged in sexual child abuse, but they’ve definitely hurt children, usually in ways that are still considered acceptable among their peer group.

The QAnon people’s obsession has never been about protecting children. The Q people want to murder and maim so bad they can taste it, and they’ve chosen a group they can get away with openly fantasizing about doing those things to to start with.

Alex Jones, in other words, doesn’t give damn about any children Count Dankula’s buddy Yee might have harmed, but he’s smart enough to publicly distance himself from that sort of thing. He knows the mob he has helped create would turn on him, given an excuse.

I just want to confirm, Amos Yee was never “trolling”. He made a very explicitly-worded video about how he supported entirety decriminalising child sexual abuse (any age). I know because I have it saved on an old hard drive back from when I thought he was going to go in full denial. And we’d need reciepts. Instead he was mostly kicked off the net and even lost his “foster” asylum home, afaik.

    What a piece of shit.

Oh yeah and Carlgon did an interview with him just before that, trying to help him dogwhistle instead and ended up himself saying “it depends on the child”.

Fuck that piece of shit too.

  5. microraptor says

@4: Would Jones and Dankula’s followers really turn on them in that event? Or would they just say that it was a Deep State Conspiracy to cover up the real criminals?

  6. numerobis says

Akira@2: clearly it’s the Satanic part that they’re bothered about, not the child abuse part.

Funny, I find it’s their victims who are frequently the loudest.

Once a mob like this gets its first taste of blood, it doesn’t need much encouragement to turn on former allies. If leaders like Jones play their cards right, the mob will be too busy slaughtering the Other to remember that said leaders are actually guilty of what they’ve accused the Other of doing.

However, it’s the bloodshed itself the mob wants, and they tend not to be particular about who they kill once they really get going. If they think Jones (or Yee, or whoever) might be one of the Other, they’re apt to kill first and question later.

So they might, if Jones is careless, or just plain unlucky.

    @ WMDKitty – Survivor, #8

Yeah well, that’s why I said “speaking from personal experience.” In my personal experience, those I’ve known who’ve been raped, tortured, mutilated, and/or abused weren’t all that likely to fantasize about doing the same thing to others.

On the other hand, I know one mother who likes to spontaneously break out statements like “people like that should be castrated with a rusty knife!” who beat her kid, set a dog on them, and continues to gaslight them well into adulthood. I know another who carries a gun that she fantasizes about using on “perverts,” who tells “cute” stories about the horrible things she did to her kid, like making them sit and watch the rest of the soccer game in which they just broke their ankle before taking them to a hospital, because “character” and “man-up” and other such bullshit.

Most of the parents I knew when I was a kid who made a lot of noise about lynching pedophiles hit their kids. Meanwhile, sexual predators who were just like them in every other way were exempt from their violent hatred. “Oh, he’s a good, (white, conservative) Christian man, he would never do anything like that.”

    Like hell.

Maybe these bloody fantasists are not all child abusers, but my experience suggests most of them are. I sure as fuck wouldn’t trust any of them with a kid.

I think we’re largely in agreement, here.

I’m with you on not trusting the kind of folks you described. They strike me as the type to spank their kids, beat the dog, kick the cat, and make threats against people they perceive (rightly or wrongly) as a threat to their children. I have mixed feelings about that. I mean, someone hurts your kid, and you want to protect, it’s what parents do. But on the other hand, going for a weapon and injuring or killing the guy just doesn’t seem like a reasonable response outside of “this guy is going to kill my kid if I don’t do something right now” situations. Yeah, you do hear a lot of “Oh, he would never do that sort of thing” out of the very same people saying “if some perv even looks at my kid wrong, why, I’ll [insert violence here]!” (Often ignoring their own family member or friend of the family doing the actual abusing, sometimes even right out in the open.)

@WMDKitty — Survivor, thank you. Not a victim here, knew quite a few though and on our side, a different tender side. 16 pregnancies, two live births. We weren’t greedy, just one more to find a consensus when it’s time to disconnect life support. ;)
    We’re extremely protective of children.
Catch someone with intent… Well, already did a few times, reported them, submitted evidence and they went to prison. Catch them in the act, interrupt and if law enforcement is available, sit on them until law enforcement arrives to take out the trash. In a remote area, meet law enforcement with them trussed on the roof of the vehicle, emulating a police siren out of alarm at my driving. Present to law enforcement with a note “courtesy of your friendly neighborhood not- spider-man”. OK, joking about the note, noted would be observations, list of evidence and locations, statements made, dates and times, etc.
Violence is the first refuge of the incompetent, it’s the last resort for the competent.

No that’s an acceptable question. The cognitive dissonance would probably give everyone psychic whiplash.

In my case it was a teacher and an elementary school principal. I still get triggered by any abuse of authority. That shit never leaves you. About 3 years ago I found out the principal was still alive. I’m 40 years old and all of a sudden I was 8 years old and locked in a closet again. It’s no joke. It’s not funny. Child abuse should never be trivialized and used as a political tool like “Q” has done. Whoever “Q” is he better stay far away from me because I won’t stop until the only thing left is pink slime and bone dust.

He was granted asylum i n September 2017.

THIS is the kind of people that the present administration deems worthy of asylum?

  15. lumipuna says

It seems the present admin’s anti-refugee war was just getting started while his asylum application was being processed.

Trumpies were just looking for excuses for putting little kids in cages. Because pedophilia, right?
