The very first book on evolutionary biology I ever read.

egads. that was… 40 years ago now.

True, well worth reading. Along with Mismeasure of Man, etc all his works were pretty durn good.
His only <brp> was “non-overlapping magisteria” which gave religion an equal, different, footing than science.
Umm. I disagree with SJG there. sounded good at first, yet doesn’t survive a closer look (like scientists are expected to give, and theists will examine in detail, looking for loopholes to pass through).
minor criticism of SJG only, not the book. *applause*. Buy the book.

Alas U.S. only. First book of Gould’s that I had read. Was on my reading list for a Biogeography course at university.
