Give me a break

More mail, this time via the USPS, with no return address. I think this guy is strongly anti-Trump, but it took some cipherin’ to puzzle out a few fragments.

You ever get the feeling that it is just total inchoate chaos out there swirling around, swelling and rising to a storm of destruction? Yeah, me too.

If it wasn’t handwritten, I’d be inclined to think it was a product of a broken ELIZA program.

Still, I do ponder, “What Are The Civilian Applications?”?*

*Yes, I’m fond of responding to gibberish by reciting Culture ship names.

  2. Chancellor says

Very articulate. Subject shows a master-class command over it’s ability to express succinct thoughts.

    Shakespeare weeps.

  3. A Masked Avenger says

You mean you disagree that Trump is a fart-jerk gun pimp? Why do you want to #MAGA?

  4. slithey tove (twas brillig (stevem)) says

    *raising hand*
don’t mock. looks like a page of my notebook of all my random thoughts jotted down at random, roughly partitioned by page, with each a broad subject. Maybe they just decided to share their thoughts in raw form without spending time to rework them into comprehensible sentences in paragraphs.which is all just useless mechanics. share the thoughts en raw.
I’m often tempted to do the same if only I had snailmail addresses to draw from.

  5. slithey tove (twas brillig (stevem)) says

offering inspirations of phrases for use to use when continuing to mock Dumpster.
    prez eject –> beautifool

    i’ll steal that *smirk*

  6. cartomancer says

I have to say, some of the play with language there is quite imaginative. “Demagob” is clever. “Schmucknado” has a certain cheeky American ring to it. “Curse the dorkness”, “beautifool” and “queen worm” conjure interesting images. Even “hatenoid” (a concatenation of hate and paranoid perhaps?) and “gunfederate” could find a use.

Admittedly I have no idea what 3ympoxagyp might be. Looks vaguely Greek or Russian.

You do realise, PZ, that as the professorial recipient of an untraceable coded message it is now incumbent on you to embark on a thrilling international adventure and uncover a sinister ancient conspiracy? Might I suggest you start by using the page as a vigenere cipher table to translate the gibberish in the Morris North Star into directions to your next dead drop?

    Remember to pack sandwiches!

  7. slithey tove (twas brillig (stevem)) says

    re @16:
I got the reference to Foucault’s Pendulum by Umberto Eco.

  8. taraskan says

    @16 cartomancer

I think it’s “demaslob” and “hateroid”, as in hate + hemorrhoid.

Still trying to figure out what “charliesatan” is supposed to be compounded from. Civilization? Charlize Theron?

  9. Greta Samsa says

I’m curious as to whether he ever gets email (or postal mail) from people who are not deranged (or are at least much less so).

  10. Greta Samsa says

Given the previous email, I realize it should probably be “deranged or unbelievably stupid”, to cover both classes of ridiculous nonsense.

  11. No One says

PZ… I’d wear medical gloves, eye protection, and a respirator when opening that stuff.

  12. Ichthyic says

It reminds me a LOT of the stream of consciousness exercises we used to do in English class in high school.

that’s what they look like, prior to filtering out the real ideas into a coherent format.

  13. Ichthyic says

it is now incumbent on you to embark on a thrilling international adventure and uncover a sinister ancient conspiracy

…and thus was the plot for the next Dan Brown book born.

  14. Greta Samsa says

    chigau, #27-28
Aah, I was quite concerned for PZ because I’d immediately thought it’d arrived at his house (I imagined his address must be posted somewhere inaccessible to rational people, like 4chan, though it seems unlikely as he’d probably tell us if his front yard was one day filled with empty boxes).

  15. rietpluim says

This reminds me of a job I had years ago, where we were called by the Messenger of the Covenant at least once a week.

I know that we should not try to diagnose people, that we are not qualified to and do not have all the necessary information, but I cannot help to think this person has some serious mental health issues… If s/he does, let’s hope for a swift recovery.

  16. robro says

rietplum — “should not”, “not qualified,” “do not have all…information,” ” cannot help”…there’s a clue here, I can just feel it in my bones.

  17. UnknownEric the Apostate says

Whoops, the wrong picture link got posted and pretty much ruined the joke. Nvrmnd.
