That’s my evening sorted: #HamilDocPBS

On PBS tonight, it’s Hamilton’s America, a documentary about the making of the musical. Maybe a bit of history, too.

A comfy chair, put my feet up, maybe some popcorn, and definitely another round tonight.

excellent mix of production development plus the history being presented by the musical to provide a modified version of the story to enhance interest.
This comment is a form of live tweet as I’m watching the doc as I write this.
    Fascinating.

They also address the contradictions behind the real Washington and Jefferson. Fighting for equality and liberty on one hand, while being slaveholders on the other. Noting that none in the epic period of history was ideal. Still stuck in the constraints of their prevailing culture.

    Just ended. It was good.

I tell you, the only thing that reminds me of the hope underlying the American experiment in these ugly political times is this one strange musical. It reminds us that the founding fathers were largely a bunch of assholes, but they had their bright spots in spite of that.

Thanks PZ, I’m a Kiwi currently in Minneapolis for a conference and I saw you post so I watched it. It was great! Listening to the album now.

Although I will add that a founding father who owned slaves should be vilified and rejected. You guys have enough inspirational figures who didn’t indulge in that most evil of crimes.
