  • If you take one thing away from my blog, let it be this: The only solution to the crisis in which we find ourselves is solidarity. Stand together, organize, and fight for a better world.

This blog is about climate change, and how to build a better world for everyone despite the rising temperature.

As a consequence, this blog is about a lot of things. Climate change is the core, but it is not possible to "solve" that problem, or even to prepare for the coming storm, under the current political and economic arrangement. The dogma of exploitation, selfishness, and endless growth has become a death cult, hurtling towards civilizational collapse out of blind faith that might not only makes right, but also serves as a holistic demonstration of merit.

In short, we need change of a revolutionary scale in order to meet a crisis unlike anything our civilization has faced, and this blog is about that.

Personally, I am in the process of a bit of a career change, so it's unclear how often I will be posting. The nature of the posts is likely to change going forward.

My background is in ecology and science education. I've caught snakes, turtles, and iguanas for study, I've led workshops and presentations on climate change, and I've written lessons and lesson plans for general climate science education, including getting students involved in actual scientific data collection. I've also been involved in politics since my teens, with weekly peace vigils in opposition to the expanding war in Afghanistan, and the impending invasion of Iraq. I was briefly involved in the movement to close SOA/WHINSEC, and I've been involved in local political campaigns. I'm from the US, but I've been fortunate enough to travel the world a bit, and I currently live in Europe, where I am pursuing a degree in creative writing, and spending most of my time on writing a YA fantasy series that's honestly going to be really good.

A positive post for a stressful night

I’m a bit too distracted to do a lot of writing today, but here’s Mexie’s October post on positive leftist news. It includes the Bolivian election, and an update on the Mik’maq fishing dispute. There are people working to make the world a better place, and they are having victories.
