Poor-quality pictures, alas. I LOLled at the pix of those guys on the ground around the squid, tho’.

(Navigating around seems screwed up. Several logins were needed too.)

A 450lb squid sounds big, but I never really understood what that meant until I saw the pictures. This is awesome.

Savaga, that would be 450kg, not lb. More than twice as much. Half a short ton, or thereabouts!

Awesome creature. The video, however, could have used some narration and to lose all the dissolve effects.

Pretty pictures (in their original form), but (a) All but one have been featured on this blog before, and (b) When they were featured before, they weren’t trapped in some dinky annoying low res video. (No, I wouldn’t have liked it any better had it been high res video; my computer can’t play high res video.) (c) A video made up only of still shots and still text is a video made by idiots; it’s a huge waste of bandwidth, since the stills could be made available separately, and they’d take up less bandwidth (even if the where substantially larger), and they’d be easier to browse. (d) The dissolve effect is out of place, and as dissolve effects go, it’s horribly grainy and looks awful.

Really big squid but I can’t picture them attacking a 60 foot, 50,000 kilo Sperm Whale.
