Serial sex abuser and convicted felon Donald Trump (SSACFT) made a weird assertion to a group of Black journalists that Kamala Harris had always claimed that she was Indian until recently when she suddenly became Black.
It should be noted that Harris attended Howard University, a flagship university of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and while there joined Alpha Kappa Alpha, the first (and possibly biggest) sorority of Black women. She has been a proud and visible member of it ever since. The idea that she is a Jenny-Come-Lately to being Black is being greeted with hoots of derision.
Alpha Kappa Alpha is a historic African American sorority, founded on the campus of Howard University, Harris’ alma mater. It was the first Black sorority of its kind, and is a part of the “Divine Nine,” a group of Black Pan-Hellenic organizations.
Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha and other groups in the Divine Nine have already rallied to support Harris’ bid for the presidency, networking and organizing to raise millions upon millions of dollars for her campaign. Harris is also a frequent presence at high-profile events, including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.’s biennial convention earlier this month.
The sorority has been a critical source of support and sisterhood not just for Harris, but for the 360,000 some women across the US and the world that make up its ranks. AKA members are political leaders, civil rights activists, literary icons and scientists, and the sorority’s cultural impact has deep, wide-reaching roots.
“When you become a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, you become a member for life,” Danette Anthony Reed, international president and CEO of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. told CNN.

I give a chef’s kiss to JD Vance for tiptoeing around the White racists who attacked his wife. I think he just lost the entire GOP women’s vote and at least a third of the men. He reacted the way the Right always accuses the Left of doing, being weak and wishy washy, even when it is his own family in the cross hairs.

For a couple of decades late-night shows like the Daily Show have had comedians address political issues and debunking BS much more efficiently than the alleged journalists in the mainstream media.
Also, I remind you Jon Stewart helped shame the congress into finally accepting the PACT act.
But in the defence of congress, this happened only 30 years after gulf war syndrome and only 55-60 years after Agent Orange. /s.

If the fictional shoe salesman Al Bundy had been a billionaire he would be an approximation of the vulgar crass Trump family members, minus the sexual assaults.
I do think it would be politically wise for Harris to pick an experienced White male running mate, sad as I am to say it. Both Bush W. and Obama did it. I don’t think it makes a huge difference, but it might help her pick up the votes of some older White men which could make a difference in a tight race.

He presumably thinks he can peel off some of Harris’s Black support, by pretending she has adopted a Black identity opportunistically. It’s hard to see that working with more than a minuscule number of the target audience, since in fact she’s always maintained a dual ethnic identity (reflecting her actual parentage) as Indian-American and Black. What’s perhaps more interesting is the question of whether Trump either feels real unease at the idea that people can have complex, mixed ethnic identities, or thinks enough other people do to be worth exploiting. But in the latter case, he’s not in a strong position to do so: Vance’s wife is Indian-American, their children therefore have such a mixed identity (and he’s been attacked by some white supremacists for that reason); and Trump’s own son-in-law is Jewish, his daughter I believe a convert to Judaism and thus Trump’s own grandchildren are Jewish. Harris’s husband is also Jewish. So all in all, the presidential contest this year reflects the ethnic complexity of American society. If Harris doesn’t pick Shapiro, but chooses one of the other apparent candidates for her running mate, the chosen man could be the only one of the four principals really acceptable to doctrinaire white supremacists!
