I don’t get it. Can someone explain the joke to me?

My best guess is that the author doesn’t like Tarantino movies, and wishes people would stop funding them. Otherwise, I am as in the dark as you.

Tarantino is held in inexplicably high regard — revered, even. He makes movies very well, but they’re bankable action movies made for action movie buffs who have seen all the action movies ever, and will see them ever to come. No matter what.

Over at the “Nonsequitur” syndication pages, people are similarly, and pointlessly, divided on Tarantinto movies’ merits. That’s the joke.
One of the best comments was that in heaven Tarantinto would be allowed to make movies for eternity.
But they’d only be shown in Hell …for eternity.

Eigensprocket, really? That explanation pretty fucking esoteric.
So, it’s not supposed to be funny, it’s a meta-commentary on some site I’ve never seen before.
(I do wonder why Mano featured it, then)

No, not esoteric, John. It’s obvious that the artist also doesn’t understand Tarantino’s niche popularity, and even the omniscient heaven-dwellers don’t either, even though they have the answers to everything else. But I’m also guessing that it’s not my responsibility to explain a joke to anyone. I just found extra amusement in the fact that the commenters on the artist’s own site were also divided. Maybe that’s esoteric.
