Like you (and Android 16) I like birds. I provide them with food at several sites hoping as many as possible find it.

In years past we had flocks of Goldfinch at all three of our feeders. For the last few years we are lucky if we see one solo Goldfinch. Maybe the onslaught of Red Winged Blackbirds has dissuaded them?
Happy birding one and all.

The collective, informal term used by birdwatchers for small, nondescript, mostly brown songbirds that are notoriously difficult to identify is “Little brown jobs” (or LBJs). Common examples include various species of sparrows, wrens, finches, and larks.
LBJs are difficult to distinguish, with many species appearing almost identical in color. They are frequently seen in winter or migration seasons and are considered a frustrating part of birding for beginners.

Merlin Bird ID app is lots of fun if you haven’t tried it yet, and you can even keep your life list on it. I personally like the song identification. https://merlin.allaboutbirds.org
