This photo is disgusting. Trump is no king, even if he has royal delusions.
I thought that was bad, but then I read the speech Trump gave to welcome King Charles. It’s a lot of florid nonsense written by a very bad speechwriter.
Long before Americans had a nation or a constitution, we first had a culture, a character, and a creed. Before we ever proclaimed our independence, Americans carried within us the rarest of gifts: moral courage, and it came from a small but mighty kingdom from across the sea. For nearly two centuries before the revolution, this land was settled and forged by men, women who bore in their souls the blood and noble spirit of the British. Here on a wild and untamed continent, they set loose the ancient English love of liberty and Great Britain’s distinctive sense of glory, destiny, and pride, and that’s what it is: glory, destiny, and pride.
The American patriots who pledged their lives to independence in 1776 were the heirs to this majestic inheritance. Their veins ran with Anglo-Saxon courage. Their hearts beat with an English faith in standing firm for what is right, good, and true.
Notice the white nationalist theme; America is a nation of British, Anglo-Saxon people, and that’s what makes us great. Never mind all those other people who built the country, it was English destiny that forged this nation. Never mind the principles of representative democracy.
Yuck.
Anyone want to bet that Stephen Miller was the author? Total Nazi shit.

I’m surprised Trump didn’t publicly call out Charles because the UK has too many foreigners in it. A lot of the types who like Trump are convinced the UK is one step away from being conquered by Muslims, and that there are already no go zones in London or wherever where white people aren’t safe.
Can Americans (and UKians) please stop dragging the good names of Anglia and Saxony through the mud.
Trump has just pissed off the Scots, Welsh and Irish. Not that as an Englishman I’m not pissed off with the dribbling fool too.
I bet his Scottish golf course gets a visit tonight.
Cultures plural actually. Lakota, Cherokee, Apache, Seminole, Hopi, Choctaw, Iroquois, Paiute, Comanche, Zuni, et cetera..
Then the colonisers and settlers from Europe and descended from same killed many of them and took their land and brought inslaves formAfrica to do the work and later woudl fight a Civilwar tokeep and some people still think thsoe Slavers weren’t too bad and..
Oh yeah. That’s just for the United States of America given there’s also Mexico with its Aztecs, Olmecs etc.., South America with the Incans etc .. Canada with the Inuit and Kwakiuti and Mi’kmaq and more.. So very many more.
“Anyone want to bet that Stephen Miller was the author?”
I’ll take LLM AI generated for $1,000 ̶A̶l̶e̶x̶ Ken, but prompted by the White House Nosferatu clone.
@StevoR
Hey now, you really can’t blame the decline of the Olmecs on European colonizers.
Which isn’t remotely true these days.
Anglo-Saxon Americans only make up 19.8% of the US population.
And many of them are actually mixes with other ethnic groups.
They are a minority.
@ ^ Clarity fix :
… took their land and brought in slaves from Africa to do the work and later would fight a Civil War to keep those slaves, well, slaves and some people still think those Slavers weren’t too bad.. then there was Jim Crow and segregation and now Trumpism..
Seriously? Only (presumably European White) Americans had the “rare” gift of moral courage? For Fucks Sake. No. Just no.
Pretty sure Humans have had that since there were humans.
Also now seems too many of those in the states – notably the Trumpists and so called traditionalists of the reichwing – have since lost that..
Which was actually neither – well,it was inhabited and run and respected and managed by many different Native American Peoples anyhow.
That they called a tyranny and fought a literal war against to break free from..
Wait, do Kegsbreath’s DIE (Discrimination, Inequality, Exclusion – thanks to an FTB blogger) laws even let them say Pride these days? No other nation has senses of glory or destiny or pride eh? Fucking hell.. what utter crap.
Ironic that in the midwest the largest group was German-Americans.
During WWI there was lots of anti-German feelings, and during the 1920s all non-Anglophone minorities were supposed to assimilate because keeping a non-English heritage had become unpatriotic.
The indians had of course been subjected to efforts to extinguish their languages even earlier.
The Irish had reasons to loathe the Trump clan even earlier.
The psychopath dad Fred Trump was arrested by the (catholic Irish) NY cops when he participated in a KKK rally (the Klan regarded Catholics and Jews almost as bad as nXXXXrs). Stupid to turn up for a rally in a city with Irish cops.
I have been reading the King Arthur tales. In those days, the Saxons were the foreign invaders, and the local inhabitants were Celts. This was long before the Norman invasion.
This, you see, explains why I despise the flag-shaggers who claim to be doing English Patriotism at the moment by sticking up St. George Cross or Union Flags all over the place.
Flag worship and brash shouting about how great you are in lurid hyperbole – that’s not British patriotism. That’s US patriotism. British patriotism isn’t flags and exaggerated declarations of ancestral specialness. it’s sitting at home grumbling with a cup of tea. It’s going to the pub and getting blind drunk, then buying a massive kebab on the way home. It’s watching the football or the cricket. It’s sneering with supercilious smugness about the literary merits of Shakespeare or Dickens or Chaucer. It’s banging on about the Empire a century after it collapsed (admittedly it’s up to you whether that’s wishing we still had it or apologizing profusely for doing it in the first place).
This abortion of a speech is what happens when you try to put the material of Britain in the register of nuance-free American hyperbole. It just doesn’t work. .
and the Normans (who were descendants of Vikings) kicked the bleep out of the “Anglo-Saxons”.
@6. lasius : “Hey now, you really can’t blame the decline of the Olmecs on European colonizers.”
What? You mean The Mysterious Cities of Gold isn’t a hundred percent historically accurate in its depiction of what happened to the ancient Olmecs and who they were here? (9 mins total – Olmecs bit starts at the 4 mins mark)
i mean there were some Europeans involved there even if they did fly a magical golden Condor built by the Hiva people..
Okay, they did take a few artistic liberties, umm, even like entirely all the artistic liberties and then some.. Like the only real thing there is the name. Still..
W apologies to the ancient Olmecs.
He is clearly trying to draw parallels between himself and the British royal family…
Trump’s always tried sucking up to royalty. Makes sense: they’re treated as special just for who their parents are, that’s the best thing in the world as far as he’s concerned. And, of course, he liked to pal around with Andrew on Epstein Island…
chigau @13: The Battle of Hastings was a close-run thing, and came less than three weeks after the English had defeated a Viking army far to the north.
I did kinda get a chuckle over King Charles talking about events transpiring 250 years ago as being just the other day. He did manage to get a well place dig in about the importance of executive power subjected to checks and balances given our wannabe king Shitshispants. Also strength in diversity was mentioned.
King Charles didn’t seem at all addled in the noggin either. A clear contrast if there ever was one.
s. miller LOL they could have cast him in a remake of Blazing Saddles since he’s a jewish nazi!
So the magat-in-chief said: ‘Long before Americans had a nation or a constitution, we first had a culture, a character, and a creed.’ If there were any honesty in this Death Spiral magat cult, he would have been talking about native tribal culture that predates any white aholes coming here by centuries!
The speech is ahistorical blather, but the caption?!
The dementia patient has lost the plot, and manages to be even less impressive than Charles. (Quite a feat)
Sure, but the colonists (Puritans etc) were banned from England, and were generally fleeing the religious persecution of Kings and Archbishops. Nobles from multiple European countries were establishing great wealth and Plantations based on forced labor, indentured servitude, and eventually the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
Nobody knows why so many Angles and Saxons and Danes decided to cross to England establish new colonies, but I suspect they just wanted to get away from the constant warfare of the Franks and their relentless religious persecution.
Norman is literally North men, as in Vikings. Funny how all that supposed English glory originates in various Germanic warrior cultures.
Damn, but Trump is managing to make this Canadian like our monarchy more than I have for a long time now. Which shows how far the bar has been lowered.
I’m no huge fan of British royalty, but our addled president rudely butting in front of Camilla during the South Lawn handshaking was a national embarrassment. Narcissistic POS Trump has no shame. She was probably overwhelmed by the infamous stench.
@20 Tethys
That makes no sense, as the Saxons, Angles and Jutes invaded Britain a century before the Franks were even christianized, let alone expanded into what is now Northern Germany.
@Lasius
The Merovingians were Frankish, and early converts. Goths and Visigoths were Arian and contemporary with the colonization of England by the “Anglo Saxons”.
Merovich and Clovis were Germanic.
The Carolingians are the successors to the Merovingians. Carlos the mighty was also Germanic, as you might infer from his Title.
Charlemagne. Magne/mighty is identical in Old Norse.
@Tethys
Okay. What’s all that to do with your previous claim? The invasion of Britain still happened a century before the first Merovingian converted. And by the time the Franks were trying to convert the continental Saxons, Saxon Britain had already been throughly christianized for a century. Bonifatius came from Britain, remember?
So your hypothesis still makes no sense.
@13 yes and then they went on to brutalize the Anglo Saxons for decades, if not centuies. PLUS there were PLENTY of Viking stock mixed with the Anglo Saxon culture. “A substantial, though not majority, part of the population in the north and east of Watling Street were of Scandinavian (largely Danish) descent. By 1066, these populations were effectively “English,” though they maintained cultural and legal differences in the Danelaw”
@17 THANK YOU Rob Grigjanis!! Harold’s march from London to Stamford Bridge where he brought to an end the Viking era killing Harald Hardrada (7ft tall, the Landwaster) and then back and then down to Hastings is considered one of the most singular and amazing military feats in all military history. And yes the Battle of Hastings could have gone either way, ALL DAY LONG – If Harold had just waited after Stamford Bridge to regroup – but he felt acutely the violence that was being meted out by Willam’s forces in the south.
The Normans DID NOT kick the bleep out of Harold’s army
If you don’t know anything about the year 1066 and the events that led up to it be ready to have your socks knocked off – you can’t make up stuff this incredible – the cast of characters alone Harold Godwinson (who was elected by the his PEOPLE) , William the Bastard, Harald Hardrada, Edward the Confessor, Tostig, MacBeth (yes THAT MacBeth) etc etc etc AND Hailey’s comet! AMAZING
Sorry Halley’s comet – stupid auto correct.
Meh. Chum, like his Jeezus pic.
(Dead cats)
The “culture” and “creed” of those settlers consisted of things like burning witches. And passing on syphilis from America to Europe.
While the Native American nations were living in the Western Hemisphere for thousands of years, the “British” were going through variations, as the Norman French Vikings invaded in 1066, and before that the Angles Saxons, Jutes, and Frisians, and before that the Romans, and before that the Celts, and before that the Beaker People. Cheddar Man was dark skinned. Migration and immigration are natural constants, even if some orange people don’t know about them.
The migration period lasted several centuries, and those initial Saxons may very well have been hired soldiers in late Roman days. We don’t actually know much due to the lack of any sort of written records from that period.
There is no evidence that there was an invasion at all. One would expect to find graves of wounded men from the period, as can be found for the Roman, Viking, and Norman invasions. There was immigration and colonization but we actually don’t have hard dates or primary evidence for a few centuries beyond the Roman withdrawal. The Merovingian dynasty dates back to the Roman era, and lasts well beyond the collapse of the Western Roman Empire.
In Gaul, Italy, and Germanía, it was all war, all the time from Attila to Charlemagne. Sailing over to England to farm in peace would be quite appealing to younger sons who would not inherit any lands.
Meh. Chucky isn’t as big a turd as Don. But he’d still dominate most bowls. Who cares what they speech at each other? Certainly not worth taking seriously.
